where to find ear protectors for kids?

Does anyone have an idea where I might find (noise-muffling) ear protectors in a child's size? My ds loves "helping" dh with the tractor, lawnmower, chainsaw, etc, and dh is always careful about protecting his ears, I want to be able to do the same for ds.

Ds won't tolerate the foam plugs that go in your ear, but likes to put on the headphone-style protectors we have for dh. Of course they are too big, though. I've googled and didn't come up with anything - I thought maybe some other country-living mamas might have some idea!

Try your local drug store. They often have the kind you plug into your ears, either the foam ones or you can try these wax ones called Mack's ear plugs (they keep water out as well.

Good for you for protecting his ears! It only takes ninety decibles to damage a little ones ears. Basically if you have to raise your voice to be heard, it is too loud.

Hi, Just in case you didn't get them yet. There is a store here in Canada that is on the internet called Lee Valley. They have all sorts of cool gardening gloves, workshop tools, and outdoors tools for kids. Which of course includes the ear protection you speak of. Their items are of high quality. I don't have the site but I'm sure you'll find it if you google.

Thanks Marlee, I'll check it out. I did order the Peltors already, but my little guy LOVES to work in the garden & do any kind of outdoor work, and kid-size stuff for that is so much fun!

Oh My Goodness! I can't believe I found other mama's who are thinking about this too!

This will be my dd's second season working with us outside and we've been using the Stihl ear protectors, but they are pretty big on dd. I'd like to have ones that were 'hers' so she can hang them with ours.... and yes, I miss my favorite 'ear muffs'!

Ds's new ear protectors arrived yesterday & he loves them! Here he is trying them out! I put them on to test and they are awesome at blocking sound. Totally worth the money...

Ditto! I had to use one of those industrial wood chippers just two days ago, and spent the whole time stewing about what I was doing to her hearing. Thanks for the tip - next time I'll be prepared!
