Return of AF question at 9 month PP?

Not sure where to post this. I have had 2 periods since ds was born. They weren't regular cycles and they mostly followed a change in ds's eating, he's b/f of course. In hindsight they were apparently just "spotting" b/c yesterday morning, after about 2 months since the last "cycle" I discovered AF again. Well, this morning when I got out of bed, AF did too!!! And I left a trail from my bedroom to the shower!!!! I have never had this type of bleeding in my life What is going on. Do I need to consult a medical proffessional? I am not cramping, although I had noticed feeling extremely ammoruos the last week, week and a half. And dh had a "V" after ds, so I'm not loosing a pg. Just want to make sure heavy bleeding is not a warning sign, I have been lucky to have very minimal bleeding during AF most of my life.

It could be a warning sign, or it could be just normal for you. I'm on my 5th AF postpartum right now. The first one (occurred when DS had just turned 2) was HORRIBLE.... much like you're describing. I would lay in bed with huge pads and diaper inserts around and underneath me, and would still bleed all over the place.

There was a lot of clotting too, bigger clots than I expected.

The 2nd one was really bad too. Now they are getting better kind of gradually.

I think I got pretty anemic through the whole saga so that is one thing to watch for. Only you can decide whether you should go in to see the doc, but I have heard from several other mamas whose returning AF was like this as well. Especially those of us who got an extended break from it!

Hang in there mama. Try not to leave the house for a few days. If you're like me, you'll be changing your pad every 20 minutes or so for a few days.

I would wait a few cycles before worrying about the bleeding. Many women have very heavy periods the first cycle or two after a baby.

I completely filled a diva cup twice a day every day for a whole week on ppaf #2. Just what happens after having babies.

You might want to have a blood test for anemia. Anemia can make the periods heavier and pg and pp and lactating women are prone to anemia.
