Our Very First Imaginary Friend!

and her name is Daisy. Ds never did this, so I was so excited today when dd1 (almost 4 yrs) came to the dinner table and said "Mom, you forgot to set a place for Daisy!" and I said "Who is Daisy?" and she said "Can't you see her? She's standing right beside me" and so, of course, I set a place for Daisy and she shared her artichoke with Daisy, who then was nice enough to share it back.

My son recently started with an imaginary friend - Oscar. He is an octopus who lives in our closet (my closet). He goes many places with us, often has to be put in my pocket, needs his own plates/bowls/food at meals, and needs to be buckled into the car. I love it. So cute. Oscar is very nice, and is usually red in color.

How funny! DD used to have an imaginary friend named Oscar. I'm not sure what happened to Oscar. She went awhile without anyone, but now has 2 new imaginary friends.

Are you sure Daisy is imaginary?

, OMG, Liz, you just got me thinking....she's been in an "irrational fear" stage lately too. "Please come with me to the bathroom, I don't want the ghost to get me" Now you've got me thinking The Sixth Sense.

Oooh, the plot thickens!

Oh my, we have entire movie casts roaming our house and trailing us to the park, school, etc. For a while it was Jane and Michael Banks from Mary Poppins, but they went away when DD2 was born. Now, half the cast of the Muppet Show is part of our world. I have mistakenly locked Kermit out of the car, sat down on Miss Piggy, and danced around the living room with Gonzo.

She and I have a date tomorrow for lunch and just us time. I think I'm going to have a talk with her and see if I can dig a little deeper.

I just finished reading the autobiography of Alison Dubois... the REAL Medium of NBC 10:00 Monday night fame.

I am still quite neutral and have not formed an opinion yet, but you may want to just inquire a little more about these imaginary friends.

My dd is 4 and is (as all parents think of their kids) smart and outgoing and polite and really neat... and she is EXTREMELY practical. I've tried to pretend play with her and talk about these kinds of things and she is so pragmatic that she is almost imagination-deficient.

I truly wonder if kids do see something more than we do. After reading the book I mentioned above it almost makes my hairs stand on end thinking of what kids might be able to sense or see. I don't think my own dd is seeing anything. If she is, she is far too analytical and pragmatic to consider it something more than natural consequence.

I think it's neat that Daisy is there and maybe it's worth it to find out more about her/he/it. Cool!!!

None of my three have had imaginary friends. I would love it if they did. I think it is so cute! I guess dd #3 is still young enough that she may still get one. She will be three in 2 months.

That is actually what I was thinking when I first read the OP.

Well, she says that Daisy is a friend that is visiting until Daddy gets home and after that, she will have to go back to her family, because they miss her. I think it's just an imaginary friend. She hasn't said anything more about the ghosts, and when I asked, she looked confused....so, we're going to leave that one alone for now.
