I hope it lasts! I heard something about "Find out what Katie is doing to lose the baby weight!" on some show like 3 days after the baby was born and I thought I hope she doesn't give in to Hollywood pressure to get too thin too fast!!

I'm really pleased to hear this - I was worried she'd use the barley water substitute.

I was thinking through the whole pregnancy that if I saw her breastfeeding the baby it's probably the one thing which would make me believe the story.

I just found this on the celebrity baby blog:

Quote:
Tom Cruise, while in Rome on Monday for a Mission Impossible 3 press tour (which he'll continue on Tuesday and Wednesday per Katie's blessing), spoke of his and Katie Holmes' tandem routine in caring for baby Suri, 6 days old. "We've got a whole system worked out – the B&B. Katie does the breastfeeding and I do the burping...And changing the diapers." Of course, he won't be able to help much this week, but we assume he'll continue splitting parenting duties when he arrives back in Los Angeles on Thursday.
That sounds like a good balance. It sounds like he's making a bit effort to be hands on ... but I must admit that I would have felt really lost if my husband had gone on an international trip 5 days after my first child was born! Even if it was only for a short time (Tom said he won't stay in Italy for more than 8 hours - but then there's flight time). I was still really up and down with baby blues, sore stitches, engorged breasts and sleep deprivation at that stage.

I hope it is just a rumor.

I'm sure Katie misses Tom, but she probably has family with her and they probably have extra help too. I'm sure she's not sitting alone with the babe in their mansion! Oh, the life of the rich and famous!!!

I also think that when this is your living you have to do what you have to do. Unfotrunately he can afford to miss the premieres but this is the nature of the business. I also think her family is probably with her, at the very least that person who shadows her is there.

Knowing what I know about $cientology, I don't believe Tom is allowing Katie to nurse.

Why is it hard to believe that Katie is a cappable woman able to make her own decissions? She might not make the same decissions as we do but that doesn't make her brain washed by the big powerful evil man Tom.

I don't really understand why he would promote/admit to something that is contrary to his beliefs if they weren't even doing it. Since he hasn't held back on psychiatry.

I don't doubt she has help....but it probably isn't by way of her family. They won't talk to her now that she is involved in Scientology with Tom. They are very Catholic folks and from what I've read there has been a lot of tension over the whole religion thing.

$cientology heads are telling him to downplay the birth and act like you are a normal, BFing family. L. Ron did not time travel back to old Rome for nothing.

Good for Katie!

It makes me giggle when people talk about Tom and Katie and the Holmes family (and celebs in general) like they actually know them personally and have all the insider info! LOL! We all only know what the celebrity rags tell us, and a lot of the so-called "sources" are "an insider" and "an aquaintance". Not exactly reputable journalism, guys.

I'm glad to hear it, I hope it's true!

new here--can someone explain the "downplay the birth" comment? Did they have a normal trad. hospital birth or was it unassisted???

what does $cienology mandate???

thanks, we live in China so I miss a lot of the details of these sorts of things

In every religion, the level of adherence to traditional instructions can vary a great deal among believers. I never thought this baby was going to be fed that crap or abandoned, and obviously I don't know for sure, but I don't see why it's hard to believe that they may breastfeed.

I can assure you, the teachers in my religion have offered up some fairly lame parenting advice, and with their being celibate and single, I mostly smile and nod. For other spiritual matters, I take them more seriously.
