Slim pants and jeans that aren't $$$$? - Page 2

That's weird...I have never found adjustable pants for my 2.5 yr old very petite but tall daughter at Old Navy. Do they only make them for older kids or do they only sell them through their site??

I've gotten her some adjustable pants at H&M (love that store!) but they're still too bulky in the waist! They just wind up looking silly on her. Mostly my daughter wears dresses because nothing ever fits right right around the waist!

ETA: Just checked out Old Navy's site. As expected, they do not sell adjustable waisted pants for younger children. Bummer.
What the heck am I going to do when she starts wearing underwear?? ?Those will never fit!

My 5yo DD fits well in things we find at Target. Especially the adjustable waist ones. She is only a little on the slim side, but stuff at Sears, Walmart, JCPenney and the like don't fit her well at all, they seem to be made for much 'thicker' children; even the 'slim' styles don't work out so great (too high in the waist and still a little baggy all around but not long enough...).

Anyhow, we'd have some serious trouble getting her outfitted appropriately if it weren't for Target. Even some of our other favorites (Hannah Andersson!) don't fit her, they just aren't made for her shape. And bonus, a lot of the Target pants have those adjustable waist thingies (they might be more prevalent elsewhere now too, I just know the last time we went to Sears we were completely out of luck). Sometimes yeah, we do really take in the adjustable waist (so there might be 4-5" of elastic brought out on each side) but we've been really happy with how they've held up, and they're pretty cheap too (under $10, most of them, when we catch them on sale).

We were SO not impressed with how short the shorts and skirts were at Old Navy, although some of those fit her as well. Old Navy might be better for slimmer boys though; their pants are too slim for my average-ratio 4yo boy (he's in 7s, he's average size for a 6yo LOL).

Ditto. Not only are the shorts and skirts crazy skimpy (no offense to anyone who finds this style cute for kids, but I just don't get how it's ok for children, epecially toddlers, to wear stuff like that - but that's a whole 'nother thread) but they also have shirts that have areas for their boobies! Like these!!

Back on topic - we did buy these gouchos in black and heather grey and they fit Isadora's tiny frame great. Plus, they were cheap and they are SO stinkin' cute!!!

That was ridiculous! I can see having the rough styling, but they actually have FIT for boobs! Did nobody THINK about this one?

Those gauchos are super cute though. I got Becca a pair of gauchos from Target that were actually quite ugly (weird flocked elastic waistband) but she loved them for some reason and they didn't fall off when she walked so into the cart they went.

I feel your pain! My 3 1/2 year old is small overall, but is very slender for his height. He can still wear 18 month sizes in the waist (and maybe even 12 months; I got rid of them since they were ridiculously short), but is a size 2-going-on-3 length-wise. So far his saving grace has been his cloth diapers (since most baby clothes are made to allow for a disposable, not a cloth). He is starting potty training now...I have him in size 18 month shorts and they fit ok (well, he's mostly just wearing underwear, LOL, but of course I put pants on him when we go anywhere). But I don't know what I'm going to do when winter comes around; I know the 18 month pants are waaay too short, and they don't start selling slim sizes (that I've found) until size 4 or so.

her childrens place & gymboree pants got the same amount of wear .. but no holes.. the gymboree pants looked almost new.. i bought those 3 pairs on ebay for only $2-4 more then the ON pants & they where still new with tags
This is a good idea for us too, perhaps. Do CP and Gymboree pants fit the same as the Old Navy in your opinion?

in Old Navy Pants she wears 3T but has to be adjustable waist

she wore 3T in Gymboree with adjustable waist.. but they started getting a tad short end of winter.. i think 4T would have fit

Childrens place she wears a 4T perfect & they are cut so slim she dosent need adjustable waist

I believe their adjustable waist stuff starts in their kids line. Their kids line starts at size 4. A size 4 slim, has the length of a 4 and the waist of a 3 which might be okay for your DD (the adjustable waist will be able to make it smaller than a 3), or hopefully will be by the time she starts wearing undies. When they're wearing undies you'll find the kids line fits better than the toddler line as the toddler line is built for diaper room.

I was going to suggest the adjustable waist as well. You can also find slims at Walmart. I used to buy them for my son at Walmart. He was very slim at that age.
