Angelina Jolie will do a Waterbirth

Was getting my celebrity fix of the day and ran across this. Has anyone else seen it mentioned?

Look halfway down the page under the Bigger than Jesus section.
Going to be a waterbirth

That's the only mention of it. But I'm not surprised she'll try it. Maybe this'll make natural childbirth more popular.

I found an Inside Edition link.

Brangelina Water Baby

Interesting article: 200 American hospitals offer waterbirth.

And my thought: Um, yeah, and way more waterbirths at home. So she's using their hospital? I was hoping she'd do it at her hotel/resort she's rented out.

Is anyone else laughing at the media actually buying the statement she just made about being less than 8 months pregnant? It's a classic celebrity maneuver so people won't hound her so much, yet people fall for it every time.

I thought that too, she's due any minute now, I think.

I just checked my blog (I know, I know), and it looks like her pregnancy was announced 1/11, and then it said she was due "in the summer". I agree with you, I think it'll be in the next 2 weeks or so.

I hope she has an awesome birthing experience. I really admire her as a mother, she seems to be a great mom to her two babes.

From your link it only says that they plan on having a water birth, not that they plan on birthing at the hospital. The only hospital comment was that 200 us hospitals offer water birth--well if the us is doing it then its not so weird...

It actually doesn't mention a hospital:

Quote:
Namibia’s Afrikaans-language daily “Die Republikein” said Jolie’s gynaecologist had approved the maternity facilities at a private hospital in nearby Walvis Bay for what could be an unconventional delivery.

“It’s going to be a waterbirth,” the newspaper said.

I am guessing that you meant to say that it does, but I was going from the second link provided which did not mention a hospital. sorry

Yeah I can't type.

: I am cracking up that they are touting this as a 'shocking development' and waterbirth as a 'potentially dangerous procedure'.

So let me get this straight. The Hollywood take on birth - elective c/sec (with tummy tuck, natch) = safe; Waterbirth = dangerous, unproven procedure. Whatever .

Angelina Jolie will do a Waterbirth...where have I heard this one before?

Wasn't Gwyneth Paltrow supposed to have a waterbirth in Hollyweird and then she walked out of a British hospital?

No one really knows how or where she will have her baby, and ultimately neither does she. Time will tell.

Well, I have been to hospitals in southern Africa. Even nicer ones. Nt exactly a place I'd like to give birth.

Not to say that they are bad, but I would think it is more the african way to avoid hospitals for birthing.
