I had my appointment today dialated to a 1 which I never did on my own with my son. She estimated her to be 7 1/2 pounds already my first was born 1-2 weeks early and weighed 10 lbs. My Ob wants to start me the week before my due date says that she wants me to have every chance to have a vbac and if I wait until my due date or after she is just going to be to big. Which is also why I ended up with the 1st c-sect. his head was to big for my pelvis. Her head is measuring as big as a 39 weeker already. I am scared to get started but I am hoping for the best really don't want to end up with another section. I can't believe I am going to have a baby in 12-15 days. Yikes I am not ready yet. What do I need to do to feel prepared? Any advice?

Have you checked out Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth? She has great things to say about big babies and why it's not as hard to birth them as we think it is, given the right tools and visualizations. It really helped me a lot. I have an large head, as does dh, so I just assumed I'd have a big-headed baby. I did, though I never doubted that I could push her out and I did, and didn't even tear, and I'm a pretty petite person. Dds head, at 2.5, is as large as an adult's, and actually has been for a year, to give you an idea of how big we're talking!

Don't let yourself get talked into birthing until YOU feel like the baby is ready and your body is ready. An early induction is more likely to result in a c-section simply because your body may not be ready. I'd worry much more about that than trying to push through a bigger baby.
