Sourdough too sour?

I have been making sourdough. My last batch is very sour. I like it. However, it almost hjas a blue cheese-like taste. It is faint and mostly in the after taste, but unmistakable. Is this OK to eat? Is there anyway sourdough bread could be dangerous?
