You know you're frugal when... - Page 3

Oh, man! If that many pennies exploded on the floor of a bank, I might just walk out and try to forget the whole thing! I was upset when one of our 50 cent penny rolls exploded on the kitchen floor and we were missing 3!

You know you're frugal when it's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to fully enjoy a dinner out, knowing full well you could have made it for SO much less!! (I don't even want to hear a sanitation argument, I'd much rather use my recycled ziplocks than really trust that all those dirty kitchen workers actually washed their hands thoroughly after using the bathroom! )

Along the ziplock line, though... You know you're frugal when you are setting washed dishes in the drier rack, and you position them especially so plastic bags can hang over certain things!

I think frugal has to be balanced, now if you get the runs from reusing plastic bags that were not properly santitized then that doctors visit/script/suffering may not be worth the $20 dollars you saved that year kWIM?

Also frugal shouldn't make your life frustrating yes it is hard to enjoy a 20 dollar pasta dish you know you could do for four but if you can't get that thought out of your head you can become a killjoy the restaurant meal is not about cost its about an evening out. Sometimes you have to switch gears.

side note on the restaurant workers - most of them wash their hands more often than some family members i have seen do nasty things like eat from pot that won't be boiled again and put spoon back in.... Most kitchens on that how clean is yours show fare worse than restaurants.

Actually funny and good tips! Great fun thread!

For me-

Not buying at the grocery store on sale makes me cringe

finding ways to cut down on monthly expenses is a game and fun to find ways to do it!

Hating to buy any paper products even though they last eons in my house.

Resusing any item for another use because you can.

Very funny thread indeed. I had a good morning laugh.

Just to clarify about the potty. I only dump pee on the lawn. Yes it works great it is the nitrogen in the pee that turns the grass green. That is what lawn fertilizer is (nitrogen).
Adult pee does work as well. We live on acreage too so peeing outside if we are away from the house happens. Mabye the grass is getting an overdose of nitrogen where your dh goes all the time. Nitrogen can burn.

Keep up the funnies.

You know you're not only frugal but BRILLIANT when you are about to attend a little girl's birthday party, holding a beautifully wrapped present (in a perfectly pretty bag you are reusing, filled with tissue you ironed). When she pulls out the present her mother will be completely impressed by the disgustingly expensive but gorgeous pink toile Mud Pie piggy bank that I scored at a garage sale yesterday for $1.

This grotesquely expensive children's boutique went out of business and one of the employees was selling off a big stack of left over merchandise. I won't have to shop for a baby shower for years!

OMG! I'm not the only one lol.

you know your frugal when.... you cringe when you wear a pair of disposible nursing pads when you go out to prevent leak stains.....even though you got the store brand box of 66 for less than $3.

Your washable nursing pads....came from a garage sale lol

When you hear a song or artists you like, instead of buying the cd, you check it out of the library and record it onto a 99c blank cassette....which can fit 2-3 cds on it lol. And you find your blank cassettes at goodwill.

...when one sock in a pair gets a hole, and you refuse to turn both socks into cleaning rags. After all, one is perfectly good! So you wait until another sock in a pair gets a hole, and you match up two good socks from different pairs into one pair. (Is it ok to mention that one sock is red and navy striped, and one is orange and brown striped?

you know you're frugal when you see an item on sale, have a coupon for it, but STILL don't buy it because you realize it's STILL a waste of money!! Who needs the seasoned rice mix (on sale and with a double coupon) when you can buy plain rice in bulk and season it yourself?

When you park further away from your home apartment, and walk, to save on gas (my hubby used to do this)
