I am trying to figure out if this is normal or not. Tharen is almost 5 months old. He can roll from front to back and back to front, and can travel across a room by rolling, but he only rolls one dirrection. He always rolls the the left side. Is this normal? I can't remember how Kearnan rolled, and I don't think he did much traveling that way. Tharen has tortocollis which keeps him from turning his head to the right. He is doing much better since he has been seeing a chiro, but I wonder if the two are related.

Hmmmm, can't say for sure. When I read your title, I thought you meant front to back only, or vice versa. That's where Will is - rolling front to back, but can't roll back to front, and gets stuck, and consequently, mad.
I would guess that the torticollis would have something to do with it, since many babies first learn to roll by leading with the head. How severe is Tharen's case? Is the chiro alone going to be enough to lengthen the muscle? If so, I'm sure he'll start rolling the other way soon.
Will had some major craniofacial issues at birth, and chiropractic treatments were all he needed. I'm so grateful! Here's hoping Tharen's therapy is as easy and successful!

Wesley is also nearly 5 months and he can only roll one way - going from lying on his back to lying on his front and only if he rolls to the right. He can't roll any other way.
We took him to our chiropractor and he checks out with a perfect bill of health. Great range of motion, no subluxes, etc. I think Wesley just needs more time to develop muscle strength and coordination. He's really trying, though. I think he'll start rolling from his back to his front by turning left pretty soon.

Tharen's tortocollis was pretty bad at first. he couldn't turn his head past midline and he always held it tilted to one side. Now he is turning almost to his shoulder on the right and holding it a bit more straight, though still a bit tilted. So he is definately getting better, and at this point I think the chiro alone should be plenty. We do still do stetchign exercises with him though.
I think you are probably right, that it is probably just normal with the tortocollis, I just got a bit worried. He does still lead with his head. He just tends to roll him self into a corner (or wall or coffee table) and then he is infuriated that he can't get away. But he can't seem to just roll the other direction to get out. I guess I was just worried that he might have some muscle weakness on the one side or something.
