Jumping in from November... Congrats!!!! Bf'ing a preemie can be a challenge, and yes sometimes you need to use formula in those early days. I had to consent to it as well. My DS was a 29 weeker, and my milk didn't come in until about day 5! So he needed more than the tiny drops of colustrum I could manage to get into a bottle on occasion (that's HARD!).

Rent a hospital pump if you need to, and also you might check whether you need to use a nipple shield to make it easier for him to get milk out of the breast. They are a PAIN to use and take a while to wean off of (took a total of 4 weeks for us), but if you're having problems that require supplementation, it can be worth it, just to get him 100% at the breast. Sounds like you're doing great though! Way to go!

yippee

Hooray for your new babe and your attitude about the challenges you're overcoming. I agree heartily with several previous posters: don't worry about updates, just focus on the babe and your recovery.

Congrats! Welcome little baby! Sounds like you guys are doing well and adjusting well to unexpected circumstances. Don't worry about anything to do with the board! We'll all good and can't wait for another update when you're ready.

Ditto on the nipple shield... it was a pain but worth it as it kept me from needing to supplement dd (she couldn't latch otherwise). Even though she was a 38 weeker, she was induced and much too sleepy of a nurser with a lazy latch at first. She outgrew that thankfully!

Best wishes Cindy!

Hey! I heard the news from Karin...congratulations!! If you need anything at all, give me a call and I'll get it to you...just give me a few days because I've had a cold and don't want to expose you guys to any residual germs. We missed you at LLL last week, the meeting was crazy. Something like 15 kids swarming around my house.

Anyway. I can't wait to meet him!!
