milk blister?

i have a white spot on the top part of my nipple that hurts if you touch it. At first I thought the nipple pain was thrush but after taking goldenseal, garlic, acidopholous for over a week it wasn't getting any better than I heard about something called a milk blister. What exactly is this and how do I get rid of it? It hurts like crazy and now the top portion of my breast and into my armpit is hard. It is driving me crazy. any advice?:

It is a plugged duct at the outlet of your nipple, sometimes called a bleb. That has led to a milk backup.

Quick answer, use warm wet washcloths or a hot shower, just before a nursing or pumping session. Take a handheld pump into the tub with you even.

Hopefully the warmth will soften the skin there enough, that it will open with the pressure of pumping or nursing.

If it doesn't, some moms will go to the dr to get it quickly lanced. Some will do it themselves, in a sanitary fashion.

Once open, use massage while nursing to get all the milk (some of which may have congealed a little ) to come on down. Good luck!

You might need to get your dh to massage it out..it is painful and it is hard to inflict pain on your own boob...

I had a plugged duct while still pregnant with dd and I made dh massage it out in the shower while I cried like a baby..
