I just found out that there is an organization called "The National Pony Club". It is for girls ages 7-12 who may or may not own their own horse, and the club educates them on horse care, vet care, nutrition, horsemanship, character building, and friendships, and of course riding lessons. The annual fee is around $100 and if you need to "rent" a horse, you bring $5 each time. They meet weekly. Our local chapter also lets the girls work for part of their tuition-which outside of the club is $25 for 1/2 hour of lessons.
I was set to have a no commitment summer until I stumbled onto this. I thought maybe it would be a cheaper way to find out if dd's obsession with horses is realistic or fantasy. Like she loves to read about horse stories, but mounting a big ole horse is another thing!
Any feedback???
TIA!!

, but it's still a good thing). She'll discover that horses produce a lot more poop than they ever do in books and shoveling it is a daily activity. And she'll have a chance to earn her own money for something she wants to do.
