RightStart Math

Is anyone here using RightStart Math? Someone on the Five in a Row boards mentioned it, so I took a look at their website. I am so impressed! It looks like what I've been searching for.

My son is in a Montessori preschool, so I was looking for something relatively similar for our summer studies. I like all of the manipulatives, the abacus, and the games for mastery. I also like that the program's creator is also a Montessori teacher. And she is a Suzuki violin/piano teacher (I teach Suzuki violin/viola)! Not that this has anything to do with Math, but it reassures my Math-phobic side!

I'm trying to decide if I should order now so we can start in June, or if I should wait for the June 23 convention is my MIL's city. I don't think I can wait that long!

I just discovered this math program, too. It does look great... as does Math U See. They both are a bit pricey, tho.

I hope that there are some responses to this thread... I'd love to hear some real feedback!

We've used Transitions, Level D, Level E, now using Geometry with 10yo dd and Level B with 6yo (we tried Level A when she was 4 or 5, but she wasn't that interested in math on a daily basis).

RightStart saved older dd from a life of math phobia. We had tried Miquon, which she hated, and Singapore, which was better than Miquon for her but still sort of "eh". I had entertained fantasies about putting together my own Montessori curriculum and had gathered a lot of the manipluatives, but realized that I don't have what it takes to figure out and do the presentations in a freestyle setting.

My kids love it. I had almost all of the manipulatives already, so it wasn't too terribly expensive for us. My biggest gripe is that I wish it called for the Binomial Cube -- I'd love an excuse to get one.

I could go on and on into tedious detail about it -- more than anyone really wants to know. Last week I decided to start blogging about our adventures with RightStart. I hope to do this once a week. I hope to someday figure out how to put tags on my blog posts so people can just click on a RightStart link in the sidebar and get all the RightStart entries without having to slog through several hundred posts about knitting foibles, but for now I'm just putting "RightStart" or "RightStart Geometry" in the titles. Like I say, this is new, so only a post or so last week so far (blog link in sig).

I think if you order at a convention you get free shipping.

Yes, there is free shipping if you order from a convention. I checked, and the cost of shipping for the Manipulatives set is only $12.50. I'm sure there is an admission charge to the convention.

I'm so antsy to get started! I don't think I can wait until mid-summer. I'll probably order it next week.

But we'll still plan that trip to MIL's around the convention. Dh and the kids can visit with Grandma while I peruse homeschool curriculum!!

I think this is the Math curriculum that *I* needed! So far, all of my homeschool plans seem to be about healing myself. This summer, we're going to start with Five in a Row, RightStart Math, some phonics, raising butterflies and planting a butterfly garden. I think if my early learning had included great children's literature and math *games*, I would have fared better.

I just ordered it off of ebay from a gal...Morningstarlearning I think. She sells it on her site, but happened to have 2 sets on ebay. a Level A w/ manipulative and a level B. I ordered the level B for my kiddo's. It was $150ppd. I was glad to save on the shipping.

I just ordered the Math Games Set through their website. Oh well.

That's still good to know if we decide to order the rest of the curriculum.
