Anybody else think they might have baby on Mothers Day?

Hi All -

I haven't updated in a while, but I've been lurking...reading all about the wonderful babies born already!

We are doing fine, I thought we might go early (baby was sitting on cervix at 35 weeks causing some major contractions and soreness etc) - but baby lifted a little and things have been fine. In fact, we look on target for our due date (which is May 14th - Mothers Day!).

Two things I wanted to make were 37 weeks (so we could have our HB) and 38 weeks (because that is when my blessingway was scheduled). I had my blessingway this weekend, and it was beautiful and amazing and sooooooo special! So now we are ready for baby (DH and DS were rubbing my belly last night saying "Okay baby, you can come out now....")

But a big part of me thinks it would be really special to have baby on Mothers Day! How is everyone else feeling about due date?

By the way, the 13th is the full moon!

I've had thoughts like that... but I have so much I need to do from mid-May on (friend's wedding preparations and several family events) that it really would be more convenient : if baby comes this week and not then. Not to mention that's four days past my due date and midwife and I don't really expect to go over (tho you never know!).

But giving birth on Mother's Day would be neat-o too. A lady at church had one of her children on Mother's Day and still talks about it.

It is entirely possible... I'm "due" May 18, and with the full moon AND a wedding to attend that Friday night (the 12th) I'm thinking there's a pretty good chance it'll be that weekend...

Mom2Adam- you and i are preggy twins! my due date is also May 14th and i had my Mother Blessing this weekend, which was also so special and wonderful. really put me in a new space of being ready. we're planning a homebirth and well.. as ready as we'll ever be, i guess!

but once i realized last week that the 14th *is* actually Mother's Day, i though, uh huh... that will probably be it. My dd was only 3 days late- she was due on June 10 but chose Friday the 13th to arrive I remember looking at the calendar a month or so before she was born and realizing that there was a Friday the 13th the week i was due and thinking... yup, it will probably be then.

and sure enough!!

it will be fun to keep each other updated... when was your ds born relative to his due date? (is this your second or... sorry- can't see the sig when i'm responding)

Well, I'm shooting for Memorial Day Weekend! Baby is actually "due" on Memorial Day (the 29th)--so if she could make an appearance a couple of days early, it would be great for our families.

Not that I actually expect this will happen...

2 years ago Hunter was born on Mother's Day. It was very special. However since I was 'due' April 22nd or 27th, I'll be super depressed if baby holds out until the 14th of May - I don't think I can take 2 more weeks of pregnancy, but having 2 mother's day babies would be so neat.

newmainer - interesting! I have one DS and he was born in June 2003 - 3 days after his due date! (Just like your DD!)

Burnside - Hmmm...all your babies are spring babies, does it get cold around Sept. where you live?

NYC - Memorial Day is cool too! I don't know how long your DH plans to stay home - but to not have to take a vacation day on Mem. Monday is cool - he can stay longer, or use the day later or something. (Cool for you, not me! I don't want to wait THAT long! )

I am due may 16th but I am so sure that the US was wrong in its dating. I am dilated almost to 4 now and I have never stayed that way very long. Well no more than a few weeks. MW thinks I am a bit further along too. I just really wanted to make it past the last week of April so that I would be past my sisters wedding reception and my MW had surgery.
Now I am walking and doing some sorta noninvasive things to encourage my body to get ready-because it seems to be feeling really close to me.

It would be neat to have a May 14th baby though. The only holiday baby I have is ds #2 who was born on Martin luther king day in 2000

crazy! did you have a homebirth with your son as well?
i'm feeling pretty pleased about the 3 yr. spacing, although i have yet to experience it. a friend of mine has a new baby and her son turned 2 within a few weeks of the birth and things are- how shall i say?- tough.

good luck! i'll be looking out for you!

oh- did your mw's say whether or not they thought you would follow the same pattern? mine have said they don't expect me to be like 2 weeks late, but otherwise are making no predictions.

I could have written the exact same post. Although even though I've been telling myself to be prepared to go over 40 weeks, I've been SO uncomfortable the last few days I'm starting to hope I go early. And isn't it funny there are four of us here all due on the 14th!

newmainer - it looks like you and I were pregnancy twins in 2003 - my dd was born on 6/13 - her EDD was the 12th, but when I realized there was a Friday the 13th coming up, I knew she'd come then!

This babe is due 5/29, but I had 2 dreams early in pregnancy that it was born on the 14th. I didn't realize that it was Mother's Day until I was checking the calendar to see when the full moon was in May. (Dd came on full moon, who knows - maybe it will trigger labor?) I don't have high expectations for an early baby, and my favorite mw's are on call the week around my due date. But I don't think I'd complain if munchkin decides to show up any time.

I thought about it, and it would be nice. I don't know if I can hold out that long anymore, LOL.

I am hoping to make it past Saturday, which is baby shower day!

I'm sitting here at 6cm and 100% effaced. yikes.

We could be a Mother's Day birth too. My due date is May 13th - but I am feeling like it could be any minute now. (I am 4-5 cm dilated and 75% effaced at last check.) My best friend was born on Mother's Day, so babe would share her b'day too.
