OK, I'm just going to ETA as I catch up! But I'm nak, so bear with moi! Salvia, I just saw the Aviator, too. I liked it a lot, especially Cate Blanchett's Kate Hepburn. (But I did NOT like Kate Beckinsdale's Eva Gardner. But that was the only part.) And your goats sound hilarious! What a sweet Mother's Day!

13moons, I love Anne Lamott! That part of Operating Instructions always makes me laugh. Also the part in Bird by Bird when she describes a yew tree (can't find the passage just now, but let me paraphrase...) as something huge and fuzzy that is threatening to come over and hug you.

owensmom- yummy sounding soap- and i'm so glad i'm not the only one that leaves perfectly usable stuff in the package because it's too pretty to mess up and congrats on fitting in some time to read DaVinci Code just in time for the hub-hub to start up all over again.

i cracked up a few days ago-I got mail that was asking for donations to help get the word out about the evil misrepresentations in DaVinci Code- i was ROFL, they obviously need to screen their mailing lists better I know where it came from though- years back I ordered books on tape for my dad from Focus on the Family (i know, i know....bad brenda, bad!!) anyhoo- it's been an never-ending source of amusement for DH and I- first off, they wouldn't put me in their system without having DH's name, too- I thought they were just being through, but NOOOOO, it was so everything could come to me addressed as "mrs. david z..." like I'm not a real person of my own. To this day, anything that comes that way is a sell-out from that original mailing list a month or so ago, i got some thing from one of the right wing companies the same day as a Pyramid Collection catalog, a newsletter from the united church of christ i visited a while back, an update from the Human Rights Campaign and One Spirit's catalog our mail folks have gotta wonder sometimes...

emmama-i'm completely there with you on going to Scotland- let's go!!! I would love, love, love to see everything- make it like a 3 month trip, kwim?

I spent a week in Scotland. The highlands are lovely. Rainy, but beautiful. heh heh. In the summer, it doesn't really get dark until about 11:30pm! My favorite place in Scotland is the isle of Mull.

Mmmmm....Scotland! I may be going next summer and I can't wait (though I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high in case it doesn't work out). A friend is eloping and they want to do the ceremony in Scotland (I'd officiate)...apparently Scotland has a huge wedding industry and the idea of bagpipes and kilts appeals to my friends. Well, that and a honeymoon spent backpacking.

Speaking of the DaVinci Code, I had to inform a patron the other day that her professor is right...the book is a work of fiction and NOT appropriate source material for her history paper (I work the ref desk at Cornell and it's finals week). But on the up side I learned that the Library of Congress now has an entire subject heading for "Art Museum Curators -- Crimes Against -- Fiction". The category contains only the DaVinci Code so if anyone is feeling the need to write a book the field is wide open!

those of you who live in Mass, i hope you don't live in the floodprone areas. i saw on the news the flooding, and i only hope they blow it out of proportion, the way they used to do the hurricanes on the Outer Banks. scary weather, that. my cousin has a house on Cape Cod-- can y'all tell me what's going on there? i don't have her phone number to check on her.

I live in MA and can tell ya that the flooding is not exaggerated. Two days ago I encountered two flooded streets...and this was in a busy, built up area!! I didn't realize how deep the flooding was and drove through it. My car then died. Didn't sputter...Just died. Although the steering was extremely difficult, i managed to coast along enough to pull into a parking lot. Luckily, I got my car to work again.
And that was two days ago...We've had lots more rain since and we'll be getting some more. eek!

Strange experience with dd2

Last night, I had a strange experience. She was sleeping on my chest. I woke up, she was still. I opened my eyes and saw *her* sitting on me and waving at me with a big smile... then this glowing translucide version of her got sucked back into her sleeping body and she moved a bit. I was like *Wow*, am I really awake??? Strange isn't it?

that is incredibly cool about your friend considering that for her wedding one of my very distant cousins married a Scottish man a few years back, in a huge old castle that I believe belonged to his family, not sure exactly where (my grandparents were invited, but not the rest of the family here, darn, huh????)

Heket got busy there for a while, maybe the long thread intimidated her after a while! I have talked to her and she is good. (She is the wonderful one who got me started with Natural Family Boutique, so I bug her with questions pretty frequently...lol)
WB&N is still in the DFW area AFAIK, I talked to her a few weeks ago and she is living with a friend, going to massage therapy school. We keep saying we will get together, but life happens, and you know...

owensmom--Glad people are doing better at your house! Your Mother's Day sounds really nice and the soap sounds delicious...they have some great looking soaps on that website. And I am sorry I did not know you hadn't read the DaVinci Code...I would not have allowed that situation to persist had I known. I love the book. I actually had some of the best conversations about it with a teenage girl I was tutoring for a while. She absolutely loved that and Angels and Demons (by Dan Brown, also with Robert Langdon, set before DaVinci Code) and we could talk about them for ages. It was very cool.

mmm, Scottish accents, kilts (I would love to see my dh in one ), Scottish music...I am so up for a trip to Scotland! MY SIL and I have decided that the year between our 40th birthdays, we need to take a trip sans kids and husbands to Ireland and/or Scotland.


zavierchick--The mail! Mine is funny too. I don't get religious stuff except for general mailers that everyone gets around here and that's infrequent, but I've laughed before at the things that come in. I'll get the Northern Sun catalog, The Pyramid Collection Catalog, Nascar magazine, Mother Earth news, Hot Rod magazine, Sierra Club newsletter, Mother Jones, Street Stock Racing, Mothering, subscription offers for Playboy, etc...I'm sure the mail carriers stop wondering at some point.
