I'm waiting on the results. I'm having a hard time swallowing, they should really prescribe sedatives for this kind of wait!

I got The Red Tent through my interlibrary loan, what perfect timing. I was a total mess last night & sat down w/a bottle of red wine & had a nice escape. We were going to rent "Narnia" but I was too into the book.

Saying prayers for the folks in the NE. I've got lots of family up that way, too.

Scotland would be dreamy! Rolling green hills & castles. My Gram is from there~ she means so much to me, I named my dd after her. I'm proud that I got my scottish from her!

Okay, off to look for more distractions.

My best friend went through this waiting game a couple weeks ago and I think we spent more time on the phone that day than we did off it...I can't wait to see how many minutes when the bill comes. Hope it's good news, beemama. The Red Tent is an excellent distraction though!

All right, so do we need to plan a group trip to Scotland for the MDC pagan mamas?

How incredibly awesome would that be?!

beemama: when will you know what the results are?

I men in kilts. I even got dh into one. He looks yummy! I would love to go to Scotland. I have Scottish blood on both sides of my family. DH and I are planning a trip in the next few years when the kidlets get older, so we can all go and explore.

I think I might have to re-read the Red Tent. The first time I read it, I was unhappy with it and had to stop about 1/2 way thru it. But pretty much everyone I talk to loved it. Maybe I need to give it another try.

Ok, I have a problem... I can't seem to let go of things. Especially things beyond my control. It gets me so anxious and upset. My current (and actually most common) problem is the state of the world. It can consume me for hours and makes me so miserable. I know I can't control everyone, or for that matter anyone and it makes me nuts! I feel like if everyone just listened to me than everything would be fine. What can I do about this???:

My 5 Great-grandfather on my father's side was born in Scotland in 1757, picked up a wife in Ireland and moved to Pennsylvania.

beemama~ my best wishes and thoughts to you! I checked out The Red Tent from the library too, but I finishing In the Company of Courtesan which is quite good (I love historical fiction set in Venice!).

wombatclay~ so your a librarian, too? did I know that already? cool!

Isn't amazing that so many people are so wrapped up in the Da Vinci Code? I read it last year and it was fun, but not a favorite. There was a show on PBS the other night, examining all the clues in Angles and Demons... why do so many people have trouble remembering it's a work of fiction? Well, anything that makes people stop and rethink what the Christian churches tell us is fact is all right with me!

Honeytree~ what a sweet picture of you and Woody! (I live in messy house central, so I never judge others! )

Oh, the bikini is going back to the store. However, I have a tankini that can control the jello better.

I love that!

But urgh. Stop watching/reading/listening to the news for a little while if you can, mama. I get worked up like that too and it's so hard to not let that despair just grab you sometimes, but I find it is much easier to deal with the world and to actually make progress when I start with the things that are around me and within my immediate grasp. There's just so much wrong with our world and the bad is the only thing we ever hear about and we can't fix it all, try as we might. But there is a lot of good and a lot of beauty out there too, you just have to look for it. You may not be able to control other people's actions, but you can make the choices for what you want to do and tell your dc about those choices and why you make them. Little steps, when it all becomes too much, you know? Sounds cheesy, but I do believe that every little thing you do makes a difference somewhere, somehow. You may not be able to see the effect, but that doesn't mean there wasn't one.

I love you Salvia--you always make me laugh. Or think. Either one is good.

Yeah I would love a trip to Scotland. DD#1 just did a big report on Scotland for school. She focused the accompanying oral report on our family history and our clan, etc. It was very cool.

I've look in Pagan Parenting and it seems my little DD is doing Astral Travel and it looks like I have the ability to see her

It's pretty strange... but she looked so happy and secure... guess I will have to *teach* her about the Silver Cord... even tho it looks like she would be the one who can teach about it

I would like to go to Scotland too!

Read DaVinci Code in two days in December - DH bought me the illustrated version, it's cool to be able to look at the art and architecture mentionned in the story I've recorded some shows about it last week but haven't had the time to watch them...

ooh, my dad has that illustrated version! I bought my copy of the book long before the illustrated version came out and I can't tell you how many times I ran to go look up the picture or the place or whatever on the internet so I could see what he was talking about better.

Hey owensmom, can I ask you a personal question? How tall are you?
Oh now you have really crossed the line.

5 feet 3.5 inches

My brother is 6'6". I got screwed!

Sorry, should have taken it to a PM. Okay, there actually is a reason I asked. A dumb one, but a reason, nonetheless. The only picture of you I have ever seen is (I think?) the one where you are at the beer fest with purple hair, but I saw a woman in the grocery store yesterday who looked like you. She was rounding a corner with a little boy in her shopping cart and it was totally weird because we made eye contact and just paused for a second like we knew each other and my first thought was that she looked an awful like owensmom in that pic except she had brownish hair. My second thought was that she was too tall (and in CA, but scratch that for a sec.) to be you and then I realized I had no idea how tall you were...or have we discussed this before? Because I was assuming (correctly) you were not a lot taller than me but I have no idea why. So anyway, I just had to ask because it seemed like such a random thought. I mean I think I actually thought it couldn't be you because she was too tall before I thought it couldn't be you because she was in CA. Please to be excusing my craziness.

OMG! My ds just came in here and told me he ate his toast and asked if he could have some chocolate.
DS: Mom can I have some chocolate?
Me: I don't have any chocolate.
DS: (looking confused) What do you mean you don't have any chocolate?
Me: Huh? I don't have any chocolate.
DS: (looking slightly agitated)What. Do. You. Mean. You don't have any CHOCOLATE?
Me: (WTF?) I.Have.No.Chocolate. What part are you not getting?
DS: (looking panicky, scrunching up his nose and opening and closing his fists) WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T HAVE ANY CHOCOLATE???
Me: (ready to duck and cover) I have no chocolate! IT'S. ALL. GONE!
DS: (looking pityingly at me for the absence of chocolate in my life) Oh. Why didn't you say that?

Kids can be such nut jobs.

That is too funny! I do have brownish hair, used to be blonder when I lived in SoCal. That purple was just a wig to cover my complete lack of hair. What a weird connection... I don't recall talking about our heights before, but I don't recall a lot of things... So how tall are you? Our minds work in such weird ways...

I wish it was me, so I could meet you!

Yeah, see I knew the purple hair wasn't real, but I don't think I actually knew the real color of your hair either. I don't remember if we talked about our heights before either. I'm about 5' 2". Random stuff. The other day when we were talking about Eragon the movie (not here) and I told dh that I was going to have to drive up to Oregon when it came out to go see it with you, he said, "How far outside of Portland is she? That would be cool. We could go see my dad and you could meet her." The plan sounds good except for the part where we have to see dh's dad...

I am 30 minutes from Portland metro area, 1 hour or so from downtown. My dh is a curmudgeon but I've made him meet MDC mamas before, so he is used to it.
Our poor, put-upon dhs. I've never made mine meet MDC mamas. He usually has something else to do (work, generally) on the rare occassions I've gotten to meet MDC mamas IRL. It's cool because he can't appreciate it for the momentous thing it truly is.

OMG! OMG! After calling the office & tellng them that I needed to be sedated if I have to wait any longer and crying about being a total wreck, the dr. called back & said I'm "normal"!! I am normal HA HA HA HA ! I'm crying to a laughing beat,or laughing to a crying beat.. SOMETHING! I am so thankful! I almost bought a pack of cigarettes! They found something in my sinuses... which may even explain the headaches. OMG Off to give thanks to the Mother.
