Yea for Emily! You must be so excited to see your hubby. Have a great time. Don't worry though we'll reserve your spot here.

I am in southern Arizona. It is already in the 100's here.
My garden is going gang busters this year. It is really cool.
If I don't get the tomatoes in the ground by mid-Feb it gets too hot to get tomatoes. Usually we are done gardening in July/Aug for a couple months and then start again in Oct. for a winter crop of root vegetables and leafy greens. But this year we are going to grow a native corn crop so that need to go in the ground in July.

Luckily I didn't have to wrestle a goat! LOL I am thinking as long as my friend is having goats, I may hold off a few years, and get a garden how we want it. I have such plans!

on the subject of medicinal gardens...

I checked these two books out from the library, and thought they sort of complimented each other in that one was about making herbal remedies, the other on growing the plants...

Rosemary Gladstar's The Family Herbal, and Anne McIntyre's The Medicinal Garden. I put them on my Amazon wishlist...

Hey remember earlier in the month when my bf asked me to proofread dw's paper for her? Well, the other day, dw e-mailed me and asked me to do two more papers for her. She asked this time (not bf) and she really wanted me to take a look at them so I did. I was pleasantly surprised that the writing was soo much better than the other paper--which makes it clear to me that she was probably just in a rush with the other one--and the papers were really interesting too. Dw called me later that night and asked me to help her rewrite her conclusion a bit and then we just chatted about midwifery and things. We were on the phone for a half an hour! That's the first time we've ever just talked on the phone like that and it was really cool. Just thought I'd share since I had expressed to you guys how uncomfortable I was after that first situation that it has turned out to be a good thing after all.

Hi ladies! My attendance has been spotty, too. Woody has started a few new things, which I think will explain:

Grabbing (with crazy magnetic velcro fingers!)
Rolling (rolled right off the bed yesterday--only a foot, and onto some laundry [thank the gods that I'm a mess], but still let out a big cry and gave me quite a fright)
Going speed-racer in his walker (WITH the brakes on!!)

and

Tipping over his carseat (by throwing his weight forward or backward, or both)

Six months is a crazy crazy time.

BUT, I did go to the most fascinating, enchanting, and inspiring concert and workshop yesterday--has anyone heard of Fionn Tulach (who, during the '80s and '90s was Fionna Davidson)? She played her harp, told some myths, sang some songs, and then gave this really powerful workshop on her Order. It was so powerful and lovely...

Thanks, it was really one of those "Huh. I guess everything really does happen for a reason!" moments for me. It goes a little deeper too because it allowed me to get to know her better and see that we have some common views about things in a way that I just couldn't have otherwise. In short, it made me like her better which is definitely a good thing.

Lump

I went for my annual girlie exam (which I haven't been to in 6 years! ) and while the midwife did my breast exam, she found a lump. I am so upset. I am almost certian it is nothing; I have no history, and I have breast fed, and I am young... but I am scared. I go to have an untrasound of my breast on Wednesday (luckily dh knows one of the women who does them and she is very good). I am so upset at myself for not doing my SBE. I have been nursing pretty much for 4 1/2 years (with a two month stop between when DS#2 weaned, and ds#3 was born). My breast always felt weird, you know, so I just never felt them unless I had a plugged duct.
DH and I haven't said anything to anyone, because I just don't see the point at this time, but I am so worried. Send some good vibes please.

Mamaofthree- Sending good energy your way. I've had a couple of lumps that have had to get checked out and it is scary. Hopefully, your lump is just a natural part of you or a little harmless cyst.
Hugs to you.

Mamaofthree- hope your lump isn't serious.

13 moons -cool about the writing

HoneyTree- enjoy your 6 month old!

mamaofthreee- healing thoughts your way- on the plus side, i have known far more ladies with lumps that turned out to be nothing to worry about then ones that were a concern- still scares the h*ll out of you for a bit until you find out, though so sorry you are going through this- please let us know what you find out

Teresa: We need a picture of Woody rolling around!

Thank you guys so much. I feel the love. I am feeling better today, I need to get my butt to bed earlier so I am not awake thinking too much. Sheesh. I will let you all know sometime on Wednesday.

You know, my Tillycat is going crazy killing things. We have this big old collared lizard out in the garden and this is the thrid time she has tried to kill the darn thing. Plus I would say once a week we find mutilated birds (not just died, but ripped up! you know head over here, heart over there...). UGH! What a thing to wake up too. :

Sending good vibes here too, mama. Hope all is well.

All the cats I know are killing things like crazy right now! Maybe there are just more things available for killing? Every evening when I look out in my backyard, there are always 3 or 4 cats (from da hood) stalking around or just sitting there together like some cat council. (My rodents bring all the cats to the yard. Damn right, they're better than yours...) My SIL's cats have brought no less than 6 dead mice into the house so far this week and my mom's front yard is littered with bird wings and feathers too. It does seem like more carnage than usual.
