~*~May Pagan Mamas Circle~*~ - Page 30

zavierchick~ if it was me, I would take the advice of our trusted vet. You're right, it is such a complicated issue and I think it helps to get advice from someone a bit removed.

geez, mamas- give me some advice. My dh is going to Seattle this weekend for a work-related event and he wants us to go along. It is a 5+ hour drive and I'm not sure if I'm up to it- let alone the girls. Then, last time we went away, our chickens got killed. I'm torn. What do you think?

My advice to you is...Don't go. (The trash heap has spoken.) -Fraggle Rock

maybe I should tell you that this is the hotel we will be staying at... even though the Trash Heap knows all!

Hey mamas. I am going to take a break from MDC for awhile. I am having some real issues with my over use of the internet. I need to just stay off for a while, and focus more on my family.
You wonderful mamas have been a real goddess send. I am hoping to get my stuff together and see you all in a few months.

Love to all of you

H

Oh, mamaofthree, you will be missed. I completely understand though. Know that you are loved as well and that we'll be here when you are ready to return.
Do what you have to do, mamaofthree. We will all be here in the circle waiting for you and sending good vibes.

Salvia, I would probably say to not go. Although I have stayed at the W in SF and it was great. But it doesn't sound like you'll be able to relax and enjoy it.

Salvia, it doesn't sound like you want to go. And the hotel looks lovely, but to me that would indicate a higher stress factor with my dc--but it might not for you? Then again, you were just saying that you and your dh had some trouble about him being absent too much. Would the trip allow you to spend more time with him? Is there someone who could keep an eye on the chickens or some way to secure them better? (Sorry, I know almost nothing about keeping chickens so that might be a dumb question.)
Hey Salvia! I just noticed your senior title--very cool! That came through quickly too.
Salvia- The hotel looks absolutely lovely...but not child friendly at all. It looks like there are many sharp edges, glass items, etc etc. I just think it would be very stressful for you.
If he was going away for a longer period of time, I would consider it just so you can spend time with him but for a weekend, it just doesn't seem worth all that trouble.

mamaofthree~ just wanted to say - that we'll miss you and that I understand where you are coming from.

well, I decided not to go to Seattle. geez, I had the hardest time deciding, but I feel good about it. thanks mamas.

13moons~ I was surprised but she had my senior title up an hour after I pmed her. I had something totally different in mind, but then yesterday knew I had to have this one.

Last night I read the part of The Red Tent where Dinah gets her first moon and has her ritual. Very intense.

I'm almost done w/The Red Tent. It has been very intense and brought tears to my eyes a few times. I see what you mean about feeling vulnerable, Bella Babe.

MamaofThree~ I totally understand, I realize how much time I spend here when I'm away camping or really need to get something done. SO much time, mostly idle or energy scattering.

zavierchick~ we've had many dogs in our family. We continue treatments as long as they still have happiness, they wag their tails & get excited about food. You're a good mama to Sadie! It sounds like she still has the will to live & wants to be there.

This was brought up last week. We have two cats, Pomona & Fortuna. With all of the spring babies, there have been a few mutilated chicks brought to our deck.. gruesome. Yesterday I was under the deck filling up our watering can & I saw a baby animal, swarmed w/flies. When dh got home he buried it, it was a bunny. Last night we were eating & heard what sounded like a squeak toy & it was moving... we looked out to see Pomona running towards the deck w/something. Fortuna was in hot pursuit. I ran down under the deck & they had another bunny, chasing it around our bags of potting soil. I was trying to keep them away & chase it back to the thicket at the same time. We had it in a basket a couple of times but hesitated.. still wondering if we were intervening in the higher order of things. We managed to get the bunny safely into the thicket, kitties inside. Now I don't want to let them out,b ut know they'll start spraying in defiance. I don't want to interfere in the food chain, but these cats are fed by me, so I'm already interfering. I'll let them out & hope to hear the squeak... and go out wielding the broom again. I bet the whole thing was funny to watch from the park.

Oh, so... I received the Wonderwash that I had posted here. It's alright, it works great for lightly soiled stuff... but I don't trust it for my dishcloths or dd's diapers.

That's very cool about your title--mine took literally more than 2 weeks. Wonder what was up with that? Sounds like you made a good choice about Seattle. I have generally found that if I'm not really into the idea of taking off somewhere with the kids like that, then it usually ends up being more trouble than it's worth. ;-)

I'm so glad you are reading The Red Tent! Are you enjoying it then? You too, beemama!

beemama, as far as saving the bunny--I would have done it too. I've saved mice from my cats before. I guess it is interfering a bit, but since we're part of the food chain too...is it that different from if an animal higher on the food chain came and took the bunny for itself? I guess it is since the bunny is still around now, but really, I wouldn't sweat it. The urge to preserve a life is not a bad thing, ya know?

Salvia, what does your title mean?
I've been a sr. member for over a year now, and never got around to a title...

I do the same with my cat, if I can intervene. Usually I'm too late.

Pam and Abigail, it's the phases of the moon. (Wait, I am right, Salvia? Right?)

And it is cool!

I still am not done with Mists of Avalon! It seems like I don't have a ton of time to just sit and read, or I feel guilty just sitting and reading during the day, there is always "something" I could be doing right? And at night I spend a little bit of time with my worn out husband, I don't like to read and ignore him, when we don't have a much awake time together as when the landscaping season is off. So I usually read a chapter here and there..In the bath or for 10 minutes b4 bed. Which is kind of nice since it draws it out a bit. But I want to re read the Earth's Children series again, and prob Red Tent, if I need a good cry. Man, that last chapter gets be every time!!!

Anyone else suffering from hellacious allergies right now? I am going to tidy up the house really quick and then veg while baby is sleeping (kids are at the ex's) I can't breathe, my head hurts, and I drip every time I lean over!:
Love the smilies!

Mama of Three- I totally understand, I sometimes take a day or two away, and surprisingly, MDC survives while I am away~ Shock! I find if I get more involved and concious within my day, my kids, my passions--I can still log on occasionally without rabidly attaching myself to the computer. Ahhh.... Addictions!

Blessings all,
Shelley

It was my instinct, and then my rational mind.. I'm glad I saved the bunny. I wonder if we should've scooped it up & taken it to a rehabber.. but we didn't.

Possibly what made me question it was "Grizzly Man".. has anyone seen that? It was a bizarre look into the life & death of Timothy Treadwell -who's mission was to "save" the Grizzlies in Alaska by living amongst & filming them. The film-maker really exploited this man's death and added way too much personal drama.. but there was an interview w/one of the Alaskan natives & he talked about Treadwell's disrespect for the bear by trying to live among them and I totally agreed. He wasn't using what puts us at the "top" of the foodchain, his ability to reason and stay the heck out of the way of the Grizzlies!

Probably over-analyzing there.. but it's fresh on my mind.. we just watched it the other day & it made me feel so weird.

I just wanted to pop in and say hi... I may jump in the conversation before too long!

Oh jump in, jump in! Don't wait for an opening or a lull as it will never come. I'll get you started--are you reading anything good right now?

I cannot believe it is the last day of May! The kids have only 7 days left of school. This morning I helped the school librarian finish inventory on the non-fiction section of the library and then the third graders held a family tea where I got to picnic in the grass while dd#2 served her and I tea and cookies and fruit. It was nice to get to take some time to just sit in the grass and chat with her and her friends and their parents. :-)

Salvia~ keep forgetting to say that I your senior title!

Welll, I guess I have about 10 minutes to post to this thread. I wish I had a senior title! I asked for mine weeks ago! How come some people get them so fast and others take weeks?

Hmm, I don't know--mine took ages too. Maybe you should pm them again?
