NOT impatient to go into labour...

I guess I am the only one who is not impatient to go into labour??

First of all, I feel that my body knows best when to go into labour and I don't want to rush things in any way. I'd rather go into labour before 42 wks I guess.

Second, you should see my to-do list! With a very active toddler and a baby I don't know how I'll get anything done. I am still trying to get a bunch of appointments out of the way and get some business stuff done and fix up some things around the house.

I don't really feel like I'm in a rush to go into labor, per say... tho at times, with the PSD/ back pain, I feel like I'd REALLY like to not be pregnant anymore, just so I could roll over in bed without it hurting so badly... or you know, lay back on the couch and relax without it hurting to change positions. I just feel so cruddy some days... I'm hoping finding a new chiropractor will help with that!

But, yeah. Huge to-do list here, too. And my DH is extremely busy this week (fricking finals!!!), which means all the house renovation stuff is on my shoulders and I HATE dealing with it!

Plus, my mom, who was going to come out and visit with my stepdad (who's doing the reno work on our new house) has now decided that it is more important that she stay and keep an eye on my neice than come hang out with her pregnant daughter and meet her new grandbaby. Even tho I don't want her at the birth, and I do have some difficulties with her sometimes, she's my mom and I would like it if she *wanted* to come visit me!

(OK, I'm feeling really cranky today, sorry for venting...)

I'm definitely wanting baby to hang out awhile longer! Of course, I'm not even "due" for another 4 weeks...but I have SO much to do, and I'm really not anxious for her to come especially early. I definitely don't feel ready yet.

My sister is driving her car down here on the 10th, but the birth center would allow me to birth there as early as the 6th (36 weeks, 5 days)--which would be kind of a disaster, transportation-wise! Because she's a first baby, and I'm really not showing any early signs, though, I doubt she'll be super early.

Personally I'm hoping baby comes sometime between 39 and 41 weeks (although I may be getting very tired of being pregnant by then). So any time between the 22nd of May and the 4th of June would be lovely.

Of course, I'm afraid all of you ladies will be long gone to the Life with a Babe forum by then...so I'll be left alone and sad in the May DDC with no one to read my little one's birth announcement.

Mmmm, not in a hurry to go into LABOR, that's for sure. I'm not looking forward to transition at all

I'm not in any hurry either, especially since my new OB will consider waiting until 41 wks for an induction (i have type 1 diabetes.) I'm not ready, baby isn't ready, and our to do list is still really long! And I am well aware that whatever discomfort I'm feeling now is nothing compared to what it will be like caring for a newborn and toddler. Take you time, baby girl.

I get all twisted up in my head. I'm looking forward to the actual birth, but I have so much I want to do before the baby comes. Then when I'm feeling really uncomfortable (most of the time now) I can't wait to not be pregnant anymore. But THEN, even though I know we are totally prepared in every way, I get little pangs of nervousness when I think about actually having a baby here in our life. Throw hormones into the mix and I'm all screwed up. I am so thankful to have such an amazing husband to try to keep me level.

no hurry here...
I'm due on the 16th, but my doctor is out of town till the 10th, so I've been talking to the little one about waiting until after then for sure. I have my mama blessing on the 6th too, so there are a few reasons to keep this baby inside a bit longer, not to mention the long list of things i want to do and get ready first... it takes so long to do everything with this ginormous belly, if baby waits till i'm done, i might not birth until June!

as well, I live in a small town with a small hospital (and no homebirthing options currently, maybe next baby...) and only 2 birthing rooms. Since there are a ton of women due at the same time in town, i'm also hoping to avoid the full moon, as its most likely to be busy... i want the room with the tub!

No rush here, either! I'm not due till the end of May, though. It's a bit of an eye opener to see so many babies born already, especially since it's barely even May yet, but I'm really hoping mine sticks in here a bit longer, at least until he's ready. Plus, I have 6 more days until I can go to the Birth Center. But I really want him to wait longer than that - I want to get to all of my classes, and I have some things to get done still (why is it taking me SOO long to get things done? it seems to take so much more energy than normal to do day to day things... !) but mostly, I want the baby to have lots of time to be prepared to enter the crazy outside world.

So, Amanda, hopefully I'll be here with you in the end of May!

Glad to hear that there are others who aren't in a rush!

ETA - Is anyone else a little paranoid to finish the things on their list, thinking that you might go into labor if you do?? I have this strange fear, and it's kind of funny, so I'm trying to leave things that either don't *need* to get done or will be easy to do quickly if needed...

Hey girls! My due date is 4 days away. I just saw the midwife today....she said in her experience first babies run 3-5 days past due date...She offered to check me, and call me crazy, but I resisted the temptation of knowing whether I am dialated or X% effaced. I would rather not know until labor is upon me. She was proud of me, saying a good momma is a patient mama! I wouldn't go that far, but I was proud of the fact that I am just trying to let my body tell me what's next. BUT the baby is headdown, in the LOA position.....SO HAPPY TO HEAR THIS, eventhough I am still getting heartburn!! ugh......I am saying 5-10 days or maybe on the full moon?

I'm not really quite ready yet myself. I'd rather the baby wait at least until my parents arrive on the 15th, so I know I'll have help with DS and DD if I need it. Besides, I'm not due until the 18th . Just plugging along through these last few weeks.

I got all the critical stuff ready. Birthing room is all set up. Supplies are stacked. We already had our home visit from the MWs.
A few more Bradley classes and a Baby CPR class to go but otherwise we are set.
I am not even due till end of May and I am hoping he will be a June bug. I scheduled to work up until my due date (need the $$$) so I am hoping he is late and I can have just a couple of days of vacation.

I had a dream months ago that baby was coming on the 9th...it was an odd dream, it seemed to be meaningful.
I would like it if baby was born next Sunday on the 7th(40w). I can have the rest of this week to rest, and time to enjoy a last date with dh on Saturday night(as is our habit), then meet my new child!

I have the exact opposite paranoia! I feel so very unprepared that I have this horrible feeling baby will come before I get everything done! (Not that there's much to do... but right now, I still need to set up the birth room, and the birth tub -- that's the big stuff on my list, and my DH has to help me, b/c he'll have to haul the queen sized matress out of our guest room to make room for the tub! Unfortunately, he's crazy-busy this week!)

Not in a rush here either. dd was a 35 weeker and I am so happy to have gotten past that point. Up until now I have just been worrying that this baby would be early too. I am content to go at least another few weeks and have a big healthy baby that has no nursing troubles, jaundice etc.

this is me exactly! I think it is taking me so long to get things done partly because I am huge and slow moving, and partly because I'm scared that getting it done will signal the baby to come! but when i look around this house and think i could go into labour anytime- that's scary too!

my mom is coming to help me clean tomorrow, I'm sure she will steamroll me through the odd superstitions and get this house in order-

and i'll just keep talking to the baby and telling it to wait till our doctor is back!
