Well I just saw you today!

Has anyone gone to the new family pool on New River? It's nice! Very kid friendly...large shallow area with fountains & such.

Hi ladies! I am also in your area! Looking forward to talking with you all!

NCcrunchymama, as a continuation of the VAX "friendly" ped, my midwife gave me the name of a nurse practitioner in Wilmington who is very good about that sort of stuff. I haven't called her yet to see if she takes tricare but if you are interested I can PM you her info.

It's been pretty quiet in this thread for a while, hasn't it? I hope you're all happy in your new home!

Yes, Lisa, I would like the name of the NP. Thanks.

I'm also looking around here in Jax for a GP who might work instead of a ped. It would be nice to have one doc for all of us, who won't freak out and insist my baby get all her shots on their routine schedule. I've heard some good things about Dr Ehrhart. (Shannon, is this the one you suggested?) Just wondering if any of you all have opinions about him. Or suggestions for any AP friendly GP here in Jax. Thanks!

I haven't had much luck with this at all. We were seeing a GP when we first moved here but he doesn't see children anymore and isn't very knowledgeable about breastfeeding. I take the kids to Dr. Gant at Onslow Pediatrics now. He's pretty cool about us not vaxing. He's never said anything to me about it. Another doc we saw there once gave me a little lecture and then dropped it. A woman who works in the office gave Sean a really hard time about it when he went there to pick up some records for Kellen so we could get him a SSN. She said she was going to talk to Dr. Gant about whether or not they could continue to see us. Ethan has been seen by Dr. Gant since then without incident. I don't think she has any authority. She's just the records lady.

I've been looking for a doc for me without much luck.

BTW, I need to get your book back to you. If you want, call or PM me with your address and I'll drop it by next time I'm near there.

Hi All!

Just want to let everyone know that the Jax La Leche League has a new meeting time. First Thursday of each month at 10am at Lutheran Church of Our Savior (1115 Lejeune Blvd). The next meeting is this Thurs Sep 4.

Here's a little something I learned this morning. If a thread is not posted to after 10 days, it gets moved into archives. (Thanks Annette) That's why we didn't have any reply buttons. We're fixed now, though.

Hi ladies! My name is Chelci. My DH is in the Marines and hopefully in a few months we will be moving to Camp Lejeune. Can someone recommend a wonderful AP friendly pediatrician that is okay with my intact son and both children not being vaxed? Thanks.

Clothdipemom, I hope your DH gets out without a hitch! Hanna doesn't look like a big deal to me. Guess we'll see in a few days.

Thank you we are praying that he will get here on time as well. Thanks all of you. :

Welcome Chelci!

Hi Clothdipemom! Hanna doesn't look like much right now. And I don't think anything is closed yet. I hope your hubby joins you all right on time!

MW - Did you take Kellen in for a check soon after birth? Did Dr Gant give you any trouble about a homebirth? I'm hoping to have baby checked out sometime in the first week or so, just to avoid any potential issues with CPS. Just not sure where to go!!: I need to get your book back, too. I'll pm you about it.

Shannon - Thanks for the reminder about Dr Ehrhart. I'll look elsewhere.

Lisa - Thanks for telling me about Insight Family Health Care. I'm keeping her in mind as a last resort because it's such a long drive. I'll do it if I have to, but I'd rather find someone a bit closer.

I did take dd to Dr Mittal at Jax Children's Clinic for her 2 yr check. He didn't push it when I said dd wasn't ready to wean yet. And he didn't give me a hard time about refusing the Hep A vax. I may check with him about the baby, too. My concern about that office is that when you do have a sick child, you see whoever is there. I'm sure they won't all be as flexible. Is it the same way at Onslow Pediatrics? Choices, choices!

Thanks all!

I did not take Kellen in for a well check. He didn't see a doc until he was about 3 months old when I became concerned about food allergies. We've been back 3 times and no one has ever said anything about him being born at home. No one has ever even asked.

I only take my kids to the doc when they are sick. You are not required to get well check ups for your kids. There's really no need if you aren't vaccinating since the well-check schedule is only set up to get kids in for their routine vaxes. You are only required to get them medical care when they need it, in other words, when they are sick or hurt.

I think at Onslow you see whoever is there if you need immediate care. If not, you can request a specific doc. I always request Dr. Gant even if it means I have to wait a little longer.
