Yee-owch! Cervical/groin pain

Well, this finally started for me (joy). Last night dh and I were doing errands and I had lots of pain/pressure on my cervix, as well as some down the insides of my thighs. I could walk through it--but barely, and only very gingerly.

Since I know many of you mamas have a lot more experience with this--is there anything to do either to prevent it or to make it pass when it happens?

Also curious...some pressure/pain on my cervix doesn't mean baby is coming imminently, right? I should still be a few weeks away!

Thanks!

The only way I know to help, is chiropractic and that's just going to help get baby into optimal position and put you back in line if your hips are misaligned etc. It helps with pain, but not the pressure though.

Do you think it's just the baby causing pressure or PSD? If it's PSD, start following the tips on this page ASAP.

I don't think it's anything serious--seems like normal pressure/pain to me (well, as far as I can tell, having never been pregnant before!). I went for a 20 minute walk this morning with no problems, and I didn't have any particular problems during the night getting in and out of bed or rolling over.

For the most part, it also feels VERY cervical (I had just a few minutes of the inner thigh stuff, and that didn't feel like the "shooting pain" I've heard sciatica described as--it was duller than that).

Well, think of it this way... maybe it's getting things going in there for when active labor kicks in later down the road.

I've got those cervical twinges too. Usually they seem related to the baby moving. Not comfortable, and honestly, I have no idea if there is anything you can do about them.

I've got both. The cervical stuff may be doing something, at least effacing. I had it for a few weeks last time and even after a few hours of labor I was still at 3 cm (though I quickly went to completion 4 hrs later). But it's definately a last stage sign!

Thanks for the PSD link. I didn't have that last time and last night it felt like the baby was trying to move down and got caught on my pubic bone. She's posterior now. I think it's time to go to the chiro. There's one who specializes in pregnancy near me and it can't hurt to try it. I wasn't so worried about getting this baby into position but I think I should give it a shot. Dd was posterior and turned on her own the day before I went into labor so I haven't been too concerned, but this baby feels so much lower I think it's all a different game.

Kat- is it more uncomfortable for you when baby is posterior? My babe was hanging out posterior a lot last week and the week before but I did a lot of pelvic tilts and then went to the chiro last week for my sciatica. Now the baby is hanging out anterior again and it's a lot comfier on me overall.

I've had PSD for awhile, but just started having the cervical twinges/ pressure the last few days. OH BOY. Not too much fun! I think it may be from the baby engaging/ dropping... my belly is getting a lot lower, too. And yeah, it's definitely worse when he moves!

THANK YOU for posting that link about PSD!!!

I have had SUCH terrible pelvic pain but thought it was a "normal" part of being super preggo. I have many of those symptoms described - freezing when I stand up, turning over in bed is excrutiating, When I do finally move after standing up, I feel a crack somewhere in my tailbone region (or seems to be) - cannot stand on one foot, like to put on pants - man that HURTS...

so anyway - I talked to my MW about it and she recommended a chiro here in town who specializes in pregnannt women and children. I have an appt this morning.

She seems to think it *may* help get this labor on the road! I hope so.

She's been posterior the whole pregnancy. I also just thought this is what the end feels like because it's not that different from last time. I made a chiro appt and I'll let you know how it all turns out. I'm also going to do some pelvic tilts.

: it helps you out Cheryl! Following the tips on that page and a visit to the chiro and I'm feeling better physically than I have since 28 weeks along. Sad, isn't it?

Hope it helps you out too Kat... there is some normal discomfort to getting big, can't be avoided I guess!
