David Blaine In Water Bubble

Did this just start today? I saw that he is staying submerged in a glass bubble filled with water in New York. I guess he has an oxygen tube, food supply line, and catheter, and the water is heated to maintain his body temp. Just curious if anyone else knew anything more.

And apparently he is going to try to hold his breath under water for like 9 minutes when its over to beat the current record.

That guy is so very strange.

What an utter waste of time.

I certainly hope he doesn't have a spouse/partner or children. He
ought to be arrested if so.

Even if not, I can only imagine what his mother must be thinking...
preg, labor, childhood...for THIS?

That dude seriously freaks me out, but I have to admire his ability to profit from his weirdness!

We passed the whole scene on the bus yesterday on the way to the hospital. It's actually happening on my old corner ... we probably would've been there to gawk if we hadn't moved a mile north last year ... but anyway, the whole point being the mob scene around it all was just nuts. Scary to think that Lincoln Center has descended into the pit of hosting such ... well, nonsense.

Can someone explain to me how he's going to the bathroom? And what about eating?

Just ... fascinated ... in a sick sort of pop-culture-freak-out sort of way ...

There's a catheter that points down to some type of filtration system in the bottom of the bubble.

Weird. very strange.

Why can't he do something useful?

Well, if the time ever arises when you're stuck underwater for a time (& happen to have an oxygen tube, food supply line, catheter, and the water is heated to maintain your body temp...) & begin to doubt your survival, you can think of him as an inspiration of sorts. "HE did it, so, I can pull thru!"

Breaking the mind over body barriers, he's a real pioneer.

He is like the half price, played out version of Houdini or something. Someone give that man a reality check. We are not in love with you, nor do we think you are some sort of magical superhero. Geesh, what a publicity hound!!!

And does it bother anyone else that:
1. He is going to hold his breath for 9 minutes during a 2 HOUR special? Seriously, two hours? What for? :

2. It's called "Drowned Alive". Umm, yeah, there's no other way to drown, is there? If they're already dead, it's called dumping a body.
