Calvin Wesley is Here!

Hi all! Well, my little man is here!! He was born late on Saturday and we got home yesterday.

I had my mebranes stripped on Tuesday, but nothing really happened. I started having contractions and hour after she stripped them, but then they went away. They kept coming and going. Was getting SO frustrating... Then on Saturday, we went to dinner with Kevin's parents. Well, I started having contractions at the table. (I kept grabbing the edge of the table so that they wouldn't know what was going on! LOL) I didn' really think much of them since they had been coming and going... I was feeling sick to my stomach so I told Kevin just to have my food boxed and I was gonna go wait in the car. I just thought that I had caught the upset stomach that had made Kevin come home from work sick on Thursday... Well, they started coming harder and closer. We just went home because they were still 10 minutes apart. We stopped by the video store and Kevin ran in to get 'Robots' for Katelyn and we went home. I was having such HORRID back contractions! It felt as though someone was prying my back apart! I was trying to get comfy through them trying all kinds of positions to see which one made them feel best. I went up on my hands and knees and felt two small gushes. I instantly thought "My water!" I told Kevin after the contraction was over that I thoguht it broke. But them when I stood up off the bed, there was nothing. So, I went into the bathroom to check. (I had been keeping a pad in my pants for a while - just in case! LOL) Well, there was some greenish (very very light) in the pad. So I called the hospital just to check seeing as there wasn't any more coming out. Well, they said that they were pretty sure it was my water with meconium in it (Which was my own thinking...) and so to come in to be checked. So, we headed out. We took Katleyn with us because we were going to call my FIL to come get her if I was staying. I started having SUPER hard back contractions 1-2 minutes apart the whole way to the hospital. When we go there, there happened to be a security gaurd right by the door (This was at 9 at night) and he ran to get me a wheelchair as they were coming so close together and were so hard that I couldn't hardly even get out of the car! We checked in and went into triage. (Well, Kevin checked me in while the nurse took me back! LOL) They were going to take a slide to see if it was my water, but my contrax were coming so fast and so hard that she didn't even strap me to the monitors, just said she was gonna check me. I was at 5, so she said that she wasn't even going to run the slide seeing as I obviously wasn't going home anyway! LOL Well, in the short time it took her to go back to the hall and get the wheelchair (she had pushed it just right outside the door) and wheel me down the short way to the L&D room and checked me again, I was already at 7. So they got the anethesiologist in there (Luckily they had already put him on notice when I had called in!) and started my epidural. She said they normally check one more time before giving the epi, but my contrax were so strong she knew that if they did, I might be too far for it and she knew that the pain I was in, no one thought I would make it very well through delivery! (And I agree! With each one I was literally out of my mind and had NO clue what was going on around me. I was even forgetting to breathe even though Kevin said the nurse was telling me to, so they had to put me on oxygen.) So my "hero" gave me my epi! LOL A couple more contractions I could feel and then BLISS! LOL They checked me again right after the epi and I was at 9. They said, well, you are going to have a baby very soon! We lucked out again, that my doctor was already there! LOL Kevin put Katelyn in a chair and turned it around and put in Monsters Inc. in the laptop (we brought it to entertain her in case we were there a long time...). The doctor checked me again and I was at 10, but the cervix we a tad over the baby's head, so they had me push a couple of times and they slid it off. Then they had me "get in position". I pushed 5 times and his head was out. I had to stop so they could suction him out right away due to the meconium. Then one more push and my doctor said, "It's a boy!" Then they had to rush him over to the warmer so they could continue to suction him out because of the meconium. The whole time, DD would just look around the edge of the chair once in a while and say "Are you okay momma?" Daddy would say yes and she would turn back around! TOTALLY not interested, just making sure momma was okay and no was hurting her momma! Once my doc said it was a boy, she FLEW out of the chair and DH took her over to see her brother! She was so happy! She said, "That's my brother. I like him! He's just fine!" I tore a bit and had to have 4 stitches, but other than that, things went SO well!

So, my little Calvin Wesley was born at 11:28 on Saturday night weighing 6 pounds 4 oz and 20 1/2 inches long, and looking like his sister!! He is such a good baby, too! Let;s hope it continues! Ha ha I will post pictures as soon as I find what DH did with the camera cord!
