Seems simple enough. Has anyone made one? Does anyone have a pattern?

The Family Fun Magazine site has plans for a "backyard teepee." Here's the link:

Um... get some old sheets and some chairs, maybe some streamers if you're really fancy... VOILA! Cloth playhouse! You can always paint bricks or stuff on your old sheets.

I'm cheap (can you tell?) and like to make stuff out of nothing.

Happy playing!

Better Homes & Gardens Step-by-Step Kids' Rooms Projects ($14.95 at Hobby Lobby) has a "bigtop tent" made out of PVC piping for the frame with fabric over it...calls for moderate sewing skills.

Edited to add I just looked at the Grandma's house at SewBaby and it looks like pretty much the same thing. The Grandma's house looks like it has fancier decorating, but the BH&G book also tells how to make other kid stuff, so they each have advantages.

When I was a kid my mom made us one with an old sheet over a foldable card table. It was a wonderful project for us. We cut out the windows and doors and colored window boxes and trees and a cat onto wax paper that she ironed on--tranfered. we used sponges to sponge on a brick foundation and painted on shutters. Later we made felt shutters that we could open or close. It was always a work in progress.

burda pattern

I just recently looked at a Burda pattern for a playtent. They had one that looked like a house and, in the same pattern envelope, one that looked like a car. It was a huge project but it looked like it would be so much fun if you had someone who was into playing house. The car one did call for flexible tent poles; I don't know about the play 'house.' I thought I'd better find out if I could get flexible tent poles before I started a big project like that!

I cannot find it online right now, but they had it at Joann's.

Like sassytapped we had the coolest one that went over a card table that my mom made.

Ours was also a work in progress, sometimes we would sew on flowers with yarn or paint a mail box with a cut out mail slot.
