kitchen storage -- easy and safe? for lids? some glass?

I wonder how everyone else is "putting away" lids for corning ware and pots and pans.

I do not want to "store" as I need to use them, ... but I can not find a good way, space saving, to put them up. they fall every where, they are a pain, i have to constantly move them to get the stuff under them, and so on. also - potental danger, as the corningware lids are glass and could get dropped or fall on some one, i worry about me -- now DS will crawl soon too........

what do you do with your lids??

For my corningware, I nest the smaller ones inside the larger ones in this order:

4 quart casserole, 2 quart casserole, 2 quart glass cover inverted, then 4 quart cover on correctly. Underneath the nested items, I store the 'rubber' lids.

I also nest my glass bowls. Over time, I've actually broken the cornware casserole dishes more so than the lids. So have a few extra lids that I use to cover my glass bowls.

I prefer the nesting method of storing since it saves space. I do have to juggle them around when I need a certain one but its a trade off for the space savings.

As for keeping ds out of my glass ware, I have cabinet locks on that set of cabinets. Ds has his own cabinets with 'his' unbreakables to play with

I store my lids and skillets in one of the freezer draws that came out of my side by side. I took it out to make more room for all the freezer cooking I do and it just worked out that it fit in the cabinet (sideways) and held the lids and skillets great!
