Anyone seen this movie? I'm thinking about taking my 11 year old niece. For those who have seen it, what it the youngest age you would take a little one?

I haven't seen it yet, but it looks really interesting. It really seems (from an admittedly brief glance at some previews) that it would be appropriate for all ages.

It was great. We all loved it. I'd see it soon if I were you. It's too artsy to last in the theatres long. Definitely a heartwarming movie, one of the best I've seen in a long time.

A five year old.... hmmm?
There is a another teenage daughter whose had a baby. A teenage son flirting with the gangster life. The mother is hugely unattentive to Akeelah until she is encouraged by the spelling coach.
I'm not sure I would have taken my five year old.
