Another arrival! Michael born at 36 weeks, exactly

I went in with what I knew was back labor on Friday, then Saturday at 2:57pm Michael was born! An incredible miracle for me, my others being 35, 35, and 31. He did have some surfactant issues. He was on a canula with 25% oxygen Saturday, but had to be transferred to a better NICU Sunday. He was on a vent at 50% oxygen and given a shot of surfactant. Monday morning, he was weaned off the vent onto a CPAP still at 50%. Yesterday he was able to lower to 30% and start 6cc of milk every 3 hours. And TODAY he was taken off the CPAP and on a canula at room air! And they bumped his milk to 12cc every 3 hours. I got to hold him for the first time today! They put him under the lights, though, because his bilirubin did get high. I'm so excited. He's progressing so much everyday and I expect he'll be home by early next week!

I can't believe I forgot to post his stats! He was born 4/29 at 2:57pm
6 lbs., 11oz., and 20" long. Head 13", chest 12". It's no wonder I had all the problems with sciatica, breathing, and moving in general! I know for some that's a normal size, but that's the largest I've ever had!

He also had an echo to rule out underlying problems, and he does have a very slight PDA, but it's so insignificant that they think it'll close shortly on it's own.

I'm still watching your little man grow, too! So happy to hear he's just resting and growing now! They are feeding Michael through his NG tube right now. If he can finally keep his respirations under 60 a minute, he will be allowed to try nipple feeding.
