Robert Sabuda?

Is anyone else in awe of the artistry in his pop up books? My daughters are still a little too young to handle them on their own (they get so excited to grab the parts that move!) I'm also amazed that the books aren't that expensive, considering how intricate they are. He sounds like a cool guy!

hey ellen

aren't they amazing? I want them all too! They're totally my favorite gift to give. We have Alice, too-and yesterday I got the America one. It's amazing-windmills that work, etc. etc.

I love his books. It is amazing to me that he is self-taught.

I've been collecting them and buying 2 of each. That way, we have one to enjoy and a complete set put away for a future version of Antiques Roadshow. Since pop-up books don't last well, I figure a pristine set of these books will be work at least a semeter's worth of tuition!

that's a really good idea-I should do that too. just to have an extra in case one gets torn by eager little hands.

I have everything he makes. And Christmas Cards and Note Cards and Christmas Ornaments, and... LOL You can tell I love him. My kids have to keep a safe distance when we are looking at them

I love his web site too. He has some printable instuctions for making your own popups. Really cool.

christmas cards and note cards and ornaments? oh my!

I first heard of him a couple of years ago from an Early Show segment-made a note to look into the books but the kids were younger and every pop up book we had in the house had been demolished.

We love his books! Dd is a huge fan.

My parents took her to an author reading thing when he was in town. It was odd because she was one of the only children in a room full of adults. She said he was lovely because he signed one of her books and even repaired one of the slight torn bits because he had brought a glue stick with him. He also demonstrated how he creates the designs so she is fairly obsessed with trying to make her own and has me check out his website for her often.

His books have such lovely amazing things.

His books are amazing.

I loved the Christmas cards he did last year for MOMA but a little bit out of my price range.
