Anyone *hire* an organizer?

Hi

We moved into a home smaller than our old one with no closets, and kind of under duress at the time - we had to evac our old house having discovered unexpectedly that it was contaminated with fatal amounts of lead inside and out.

Well, I've never been able yet to get things organizzed or under control. In fact - just organizing doesn't feel like it enough - I need some environmental coaching. I'm really learning how much my environment affects my life as a whole and my outlook and spiritual state.

Anyway - I need help doing allthis. Have any of you hired someone to do this or to partner with you in getting it done? Was it horribly expensive? How did it work?

Thanks

I have never hired one, but I work as a professional organizer. I charge $15 an hour, but I am probably on the low range. I live pretty far from any major cities so my clients probably wouldn't pay more than that, but most charge around $25 an hour or more. But I would say look up the NAPO website and find some in your area and give them a call.

Organizing is so much easier with someone else, even if it is just a friend.

A friend of mine was going to do it as a Christmas gift to herself. I don't think she did... not sure if she's still planning to but I'll call her and see if she looked into it.

I got a 1-hour consultaition from a home staging /organizing lady. $50, and was somewhat useful. I also got advice from my (great!) real estate agent, event more useful and FREE.

One of my good friends is a professional organizer. She charges $40 per hour. Some people use her for specific jobs only (like organizing 20 years worth of photos) and some have her organizing their entire home or part of their home. She's kept pretty busy!
