Weird thing...

I'm at 38+5. All night tonight I've been having massive heartburn. Not unusual for late pg, although I've not had issues with it in the past couple of weeks.

The weird thing is, it's very rythmic (sp?). It's coming in waves every several minutes and then goes away in two or three minutes. Could this be a way of feeling Bh or prodromal contractions?

I wouldn't have thought so, except it's so weird to be having such regular waves of extreme heartburn. And it's *intense*. Like a couple of times I've had to make an effort to breathe it just felt so intense, and a couple of times I kind of coughed reflexively to try to get rid of the pain in my throat and chest.

Has anyone heard of this or experienced it? I'd be thinking of calling the midwife, but I think if it was important I'd be able to detect some other symptoms. So just curious really.

Not in your ddc, but that is interesting. I would be curious if some calcium magnesium and being sure that you are hydrated changes this.

I have never heard of this~ But I am sending you good vibes! I hope it passes or you get some results from it!

Warmly,
Melissa

totally hydrated and cal-mag'd. I've been working on keeping swelling down so have been drinking a ton. I've had 96 oz today just from my water bottle in addition to fruits and some milk and I've been taking cal-mag for a while.

Then I'm thinking early labor, or prelabor. Your smooth muscle is starting! Get some rest mama.

Not in your month, but I did want to say that while it could be early labor, there's also something...I can't remember the medical term. But basically, our digestive systems contract regularly every few minutes, to push stuff through. It could be you're feeling the heartburn come and go because of that. That's also the reason why sometimes you'll suddenly be hit with the realization you need to use the bathroom, but if you wait a few minutes the urgency will subside.
