Let the Baby Drive

has anyone read, Let the Baby Drive, by Lu Haneassian? If so, what did you think?

I just watched a segment on tv about the book and it sounds really good. she seems really AP.

BUt then i watched another segment (by different "experts") about crying. they made it sound like they were going to discuss no CIO, but instead told the parents that "by not responding to their every need, we are building more trust"

WHAT? that's a different discussion, though.

I have been watching ON DEMAND which is programming through my cable company. i even watched a home video of a woman giving birth to twins, at home, unassisted! but again, a different discussion!

Yes, I read the book and really liked it. She's mainstream in a lot of ways (uses sposies, a crib, etc.) The book is really about her journey of learning to respond to her baby's needs (he was high needs). It would be a great shower gift for mainstream moms.

GREAT BOOK!

She's very AP. I remember one scene in particular where she fantasizes telling off another mother who was telling her CIO stories. Another essay on the whole "is a he 'good' baby?" issue. Very entertaining, insightful read.

I started reading this book when I was pg, in a rather fragile emotional state fearing I wouldn't be able to comfort my baby when he was upset, and basically really unsure of my mothering capabilities. I stopped reading the book pretty early on when the baby in it seemed inconsolable -- it was playing too much into my fears! Now that I am on steadier emotional ground, I'll try reading it again... It'll probably be completely different now... (DS, BTW, is 10mo, and when he's upset, I'm grateful to be a comfort to him.)

I thought it was a wonderful book. Yeah, she's no MDC mama, but she's still pretty AP. It's all about how she learned to stop listening to "experts" and follow her very-high-needs baby's cues. You won't find cloth diapering and organic foods and full-time co-sleeping in there, but you won't find sleep training and scheduled feedings either. I got it from the library thinking it was going to be an ordinary mainstream book, and I was pleasantly surprised.

I spoke to Lu on a radio Call in show and ended up winning a copy of her book. I'm almost done reading it and would certainly recommend it. She is AP no doubt about it, after talking with her briefly I got a great vibe and everything I've read in her book so far has backed up my feelings. I'm passing it on to my sister who is due with her first babe in July because I think it gives an accurate portrayal of that sense of loss for lack of a better word that some of us felt after becoming a mother - you know, the loss of personal freedom, loss of rest, etc

i bought it and started to read it. but gave it to my sister since she is havning her first in a couple of weeks. i think i will buy another copy for myself! i got about halfway through and really liked it so far.

Well, she spoke at the LLL NJ conference. Definitely seemed to support AP.
