As we prepare our nests and get excited about the things to come, I'd like to take a moment to remember that Someone Is Going to Go Last. I've lurked on other DDC's, and as the Due Month goes by, the mamas who are still waiting for babies tend to be a little impatient. And mamas who go past their "Due Dates" tend to be a little impatient. I've never been more than four days "late" (we all know a baby comes at just the right time, but it can be really hard to let that go) and those four days seemed very very long to me.
So let's put together a little something special for the two mamas who do the most waiting - the mama who goes the furthest past her EDD (the "Longest" mama) and the very last mama in the July DDC to give birth (the "Last" mama). Just a little something to take the sting out of it. After lots of consideration and numerous suggestions, it seems the best and most versatile way to do this is to put together a paypal fund, and then the mamas in question can get something special for themselves or their little ones. A sling, a hyena diaper, an advocacy shirt, whatever makes them happy. A reward for their endurance
Here's how it works:
1. This is open to anyone due through July 31st, and the mamas who are due in late June but who have been very active in this forum.
2. To participate, make a paypal contribution of $4.00 minimum. Anyone can contribute, even folks who aren't pregnant. You have to contribute to be considered the Last or the Longest. The minimum contribution is $4.00, but if you would like to throw in a few extra, feel free! If you really want to participate, and really can't afford $4, please PM me. If you have no paypal account, or no funded paypal, and would like to participate, please PM me and I'll send you my address. When I receive your contribution, I'll put it in the paypal account for you. If you have other circumstances, PM me and we'll work something out!
3. Paypal (funded only) goes to julyDDCpool @ sbcglobal . net (remove the spaces)
4. When you send your paypal, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put your information in the Notes section. Include your MDC name and your EDD. You can calculate your EDD from your last menstrual period or conception date if you know it. Or you can use the date your practitioner is using, from a US or by whatever other means. If none of these apply, just give it your best guess, but try to be realistic about it.
5. When I receive a contribution and the pertinent information, I'll update this thread. I'll keep a running list of who has contributed and the EDDs, and when the babies are born I'll update again.
We won't know the final results until the very last baby is born. And if, by chance, that baby is born in Mid-August and that mama is both the last to go and the farthest over her EDD, then she deserves both halves of the prize!
