Wyatt james made his entrance at 3:12 a.m. he was 9 lbs 4 oz. We ended up having to be transported to the hospital-I totally quit dilating at 8 and his head was really not coming down. I really believe he had a foothold in my ribs
!! My water had broken so it was just really unusual for him to stay so high. After a while it just became obvious that things were just not right. My other labors progressed really well and so I knew my contractions just weren't doing what they should.
It was a long and drawn out labor-I had to be given pitocin and got an epidural because the contractions were sooo bad. The epidural didn't take very well but at least made them more like regular contractions. The dr was really great about listening to me and never pushed a c section. I finally told him I was feelng baby's head with each contraction but could also feel him move back up after each one too. I was dilated to 9 after several hours and baby was STILL at -3 station and was posterior. Finally the dr checked me and said that when the head came down I was 10 so he held my cervix open while I pushed and once the head came down all went well-Other than the epidural had totally worn off at that point and I had the hardest pushing I ever had. It was about 30 minutes of very intense pushing-at one point he said to rest for a contraction and I just couldn't I HAD to push.
He was the first of my boys not to need oxygen right after birth. I got to put him up on my chest and really look at him as soon as he was born. That was the one wonderful thing.
The rest was not at all what I had planned. I can't complain much because My MW was wonderful (even though dh had a huge panic-fit on her when we transported)--her DR was so fantastic as were the nurses at the hospital. No one gave me any flack about homebirth or anything and this little hospital is so pro BF and rooming in. The nurse even encouraged me to keep him in bed with me-I had been kind of worried about that.
he has jaundice-which is being treated with a litght pad thing here at home.
I have to admit I was a little sad to not have my second homebirth go as planned. It is so much more restful and peaceful at home. But he is safe and at home now. I've been a little weepy today from being so tired and all.
Congrats to all the other new mommies!!
I hope I didn't sound to whiney-in the end everything is good and he is soo sweet. He is nursing well and is warm and snuggly. I'd carry him around all the time if he didn't have to be on the light pad today. both of his brothers love him-my 6 year old wants to hold him all the time too-if I leave the room and he starts crying max will hold him and talk to him-its soo sweet.
I have to stop or this post will be so long !
