I keep telling myself... every baby does it in their own time, BUT...

... please, this is too soon. I need a baby. A little cuddly one that acts like a baby, please?

I was fine with the whole "We have toes" thing.

I was slightly ok with the "Sitting Up Unsupported" for Easter Pictures thing.

But now... ugh. She's crawling. Granted, it's not that true kind of up on all fours crawling, but more then belly commando crawl. She's fascinated by the steps. No matter where I lay her on the floor, she manages to crawl over to the steps.

Tell her to stop, please?

Cicely started walking at 7 months... and my Ped said Joie will probably be just like her. Ugh. No. Please? I mean, I'm happy she is healthy and so capable and yet... it's unnerving & so much work. Their brains can't keep up with what their bodies can do!

Baby. Baby. I want a baby.

thanks spark for making me more appreciative that Ethan isn't doing anything right now. he's rolled over only a few times and is in no rush to make more movements. i was about to post with worries, but now i can see teh benefits.

sorry your baby is growing up so fast. my first started walking arond 6-7 months too ad its really really hard since he fell every step or two.

ooh, Rach, yes I don't think I'd be worried. There's such a BROAD range of normal. By the way, this is the sweetest picture of you guys! http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2...0/DSCN0758.jpg I was popping into your blog just now. So sweet! Love the part about CD's and that pic of Ethan's BLUE BLUE eyes! Wow!

Desiree, I do think the amount of body weight they have to move is an issue. Joie is only about 15 lbs, but she's really really long. The thing is, they're all going to roll, sit, crawl and walk. It's just a matter of when!

hugs

my little guy crawled at 6 months and stood up at 7 months

sophie is trying to sit up but still very floppy and doesnt really roll at all yet but i know it will come all too soon,

holy crap. walking at 7mos??? i'd die. ava just started rolling back to tummy a few weeks ago. and she JUST discovered her feet today. LMAO!! although, she practically stands on her own. she's been a stander since about week 2. LOL she just locks her little legs and won't let them go. if she has something to lean on, she'll stand and stand and stand. oh please god don't let her walk at 7mos. LOL!!!

I'm another one that has a babe who is content to just lie around. He rolls sometimes but not very often and doesn't seem really interested in doing anything else.
Poor Spark!

Elliot's a bit of a bump on a log, too. He does grab his feet, but hasn't rolled over yet, and shows almost no interest. He'll be 5 mo. next week, and I have been worrying a little bit (I can't seem to help finding something to worry about!) so I'm glad to hear others aren't doing much rolling either. He's got a really big head... so maybe that's it. I was visiting a friend yesterday who's baby is 3 days younger than E and he's up on hands and knees and rocking back and forth... looks like he'll just propell(sp?) off at any second. E meanwhile hangs out and drools...

Against what I know to be true (which is all babies are different and will do things at different times) I've been fretting over Drew not rolling over yet. He'll get almost over, but the bottom shoulder holds him back.

He's all about sticking his toes in his mouth though. It's what he lives for. I've been sitting him up and he seems so proud and tall for about 2 seconds, then he leans forward and goes for the toes. He's all grabby these days too, and he loves standing and bouncing. So I pulled Evan's saucer thingy out of the attic and cleaned it up last weekend just to see what Drew would do in it. He loved it!!! He turns himself around in the little seat and everything. He attacks the toys and chews the bejesus out of them, and there's this plastic flippy book on it that he's amazed with. It's the first thing he goes for every time I put him in it. He grabs the pages and flips them back and forth, back and forth... It's great because he'll play in it for a good 20-30 minutes at a time, and if I put him in the kitchen with me I can actually have two hands completely free to make dinner! He loves it when I dance for him.

Amy, you actually touched on a REALLY good point, I think. It's true they all seem to do things in their own time. My three kids so far have really been big into the Large Motor Skills. They, however, have not been so into the Fine Motor Skills... like turning the pages of the book on the Exersaucer. Joie likes to jump in hers or try to climb out. But, she does enjoy it!

I'm glad I'm not the only one using a saucer. Moira really likes it.

She's been rolling for ages now and also scoots around on her tummy some, not consistently though. We don't have a lot of open floor space unfortunately, and Amalie is a maniac, so I just feel safer with Moira on the bed. I have to say, I hope she doesn't crawl/walk as early as your kids, Spark!

My kids have big heads too. LOL Jevin was a slow mover too (I dont think he ever crawled at all, not the hands knees type at least, but he walked at 11.5 months). I remember worrying about it with him but he's 3.5 and fine now. LOL I couldnt get the kid to stop moving if I paid him. LOL

I have come here so many times to post the EXACT subject line -- but then I always forget!!

BUT!!!!! following the subject line would be the exact opposite -- Lucy doesn't do anything. Wait, of course that's night correct, but none of the 'milestone' or bragging type things :

She hasn't rolled over yet. She doesn't seem to want to sit up (though of course we don't try to let her do it either). She doesn't like the exersaucer. She doesn't like the bouncy chair. Heck, only in the LAST WEEK (maybe week-and-a-half) has she been content to lay on the floor for more than five minutes.

I keep trying to tell myself that Of Course she won't roll over yet -- she just hasn't had the opportunity to do so. She does come close though.

And yes, I *KNOW* that all babies are on their own schedules. It doesn't matter if they master rolling over at two months, four months or six months -- they'll get there eventually. And if they were in school (not sure on that yet, ah, another source of guilt/confusion!), does one or two months make a difference?!? Goodness, no!

I think Louie is here to teach *ME*. Really. Because I can't control things, I have to let her do it on her own time and in her own way. And that is OKAY.

(yeah... I have to remind myself of that all the time... it's easier said than done... because yeah, I'd like to see her roll over some day )

Tori is doing the same thing your little one is Spark. She rolls around like crazy and just recently she's been scooting all over the place. She gets up on her hands and knees faster than you can blink, but then it takes her a while to scoot herself forward. Once she starts scooting, she'll be across the room in two seconds flat. She doesn't make a lot of noise yet though. Just a lot of whining and screeching/laughing when you tickle her.

It's great catching up on all of our babies. Isn't it a funny paradox - we thrill at each new accomplishment, yet we don't want them to grow up too fast!

nak

spark- my titus is jealous! he wants to crawl soooo bad. he's rolling all the way over now, but only clockwise. He can do a great push up and his fat legs start "swimming". I'm not sure how, but he manages to rotate without making ant distance.

I always laugh when i recall the mom who realized her baby could roll because she found him under the couch! : ... but still funny.

Hahah! Speaking of all kids doing things in their own time...EXERSAUCER?! My little Roo wouldn't know what to do with an exersaucer!

She can't grasp an object like a rattle (although she holds my shirt when she nurses and has just started grasping other bits of fabric, like her own clothing), has rolled from tummy to back three times (all about a month ago and never since), and just started with the vowel sounds like, two days ago pretty much.

I put her in a friend's exersaucer a couple weeks ago and she was like, "Huh?" and totally flopped over to one side and hit her nose on the hard plastic bit and started crying.

I understand where the OP was going about their bodies being way ahead of their minds though. I know someone who had an early walker (7 mos) who almost died several times because he was always getting into things that she had no CLUE he could get into. I also can understand the "want a BABY" thing mainly because every day I say to myself, "I am so glad she is still so small and so babyish, because it gives me that much longer to savor it."

Of course, mine was 5 weeks premature, so I also don't have to worry. Or at least, I don't worry. She seems great in all other respects. She just seems like a normal 3.5 month old.

We might not have another and I am sad that Luka is growing up so fast, too.
He's 18 lbs- he wears clothes his brother wore as a toddler. The tiny socks and clothes have already been handed on to friends. He has been sitting unassisted for about a month, and can scoot a bit and spin around in a circle. Thankfully, he can't yet crawl forward more than a few inches.
I walked very early (6-7 mos) but my oldest didn't start walking until 12 mos. I don't think Luka'll walk at 7 mos., but he seems to do things earlier than his big bro (except for rolling- Julian was a champion roller, started at 6 wks. and by this age could roll all the way across the room in seconds- Luka likes to stay on his belly and try to scoot around).
I started crying last night thinking I haven't had enough of babydom yet, I can't possibly only have these few short months to savor for the rest of my life...
