Which of these sunscreens

would you use? Or does anyone use any of these 3? I'm desperately searching for a physical block sunscreen, without PABA or parabens. I care about the other chemicals, but those are my 3 biggest concerns at the moment. None of these are in Skin Deep, I don't think.

Mexitan - http://www.solartex.com/Detail.bok?no=91
looks like pretty safe ingredients.

Lavera - http://www.lavera-usa.com/products.p...id=83&parent=9
in their FAQ, they say they don't use parabens or synthetic colors or fragrances, or sls, etc

UV Natural - http://www.refreshinglyfree.com/s.nl...=2&category=44
it says its one of a kind. lol.

I'd like to not have to spend a fortune on sunscreen, but when it comes down to it, I'd rather spend what I have to in order to avoid nasty ingredients. I don't plan on going out before 2pm often, but I want to have sunscreen available if we do.

Thanks for any opinions!

I haven't used (or heard of) any of those. We use California Baby, which is very safe and works wonderfully. It's a little expensive, but a little goes a long way, too. I used a tube ($18) on dd and myself all last summer, almost every day, and still have a fair amount left. I might need to buy more in August, maybe.

I bought some zinc oxide diaper rash cream at the dollar store last summer and used that as sunscreen. Ingredients: petroleum jelly, zinc oxide, fragrance. Ideally I would have gotten something fragrance-free and made with natural oils, but this was fairly benign and a lot cheaper!!!

I would use the first two if I had to choose. I have read conflicting reports about the safety of micronized zinc oxide.

I would worry about putting a petrol by-product (petroleum jelly) on a child and then having it "baked into" their skin in the sun.

Sorry....I have not heard of any of those brands BUT check out mexitanproducts.com We have chosen these products over Aubrey as they are still 100% natural, but the bottle is bigger, it spreads easier and it costs much less!!! Oh--AND Mexitan's products are on SALE right now for much less than the website you found them on

Yeah, your prices are cheaper But...I ordered the Mexitan from solartex.com before I saw your post. I ordered some uv shirts and swim diapers from them too, and it didn't add any shipping charges, so that worked out.
But that's a cool deal you have going on, a free spf 15 with an order of $25 or more. If I notice anyone wondering about safer sunscreens, I'll give em your link

We've used Lavera and Cali Baby and like them both. The California Baby is easier for us to get (they have it at our Wild Oats), so that's what we've bought the most of, but both have worked really well on our super fair DS- he's never even been pink!
