Fudging LMP Date

So during this cycle I didn't ovulate until day 23, instead of your run-of-the-mill ovulation on day 14 of a 28 day cycle. This probably happened because I am still FREQUENTLY nursing my 19 mo DS. If an OB was to set my due date based on my Last Month's Period date (4/5/06), my due date would be early by over a week. Well, that's the last thing I want if I don't want a repeat c-section for going past my due date...I want that date set as far out as possible to allow myself to go into natural labor when my baby says it's time.

I'm thinking about fudging on my LMP date and saying that it was 4/13/06 instead, which will make the due date that *I* calculated based on my ovulation date match up with the one the OB will come up with on his little due date wheel.

Has anyone done this, or thought about doing this? Good idea or not? Since you guys don't know me very well, let me add a disclaimer that I VERY rarely lie, and I'm very bad at it. Just don't want y'all to think that I'm a big fat liar on a regular basis!

LOL!! Good question its the same thing for me. I would have had a 31 day cycle and I know what day I conceived on. I conceived on Easter lol!

I think I am just going to tell my doctor I know what day I ovulated and it was CD 17. Hopefully he will let me keep the 7th although I guess it would just be a few days different for me.

Yep, I 'fudged' my due date with #2, only I had the opposite scenario as you. I O'd very early, cd9, and I adjusted the date of my LMP that I gave my OB accordingly. Otherwise, I knew my due date would be 5 days off.

I also am very morally opposed to lying for pretty much any reason, but I didn't consider this to be a lie, just a way to keep things accurate without having to go into a lengthy explanation.

I think you knowing the political state that obstetrics is in you have to play the game to get what you want....what nature intended for you and your baby. You know best, tell the OB what you want and let your body and baby say when the "TIME" to be born is. Just my 2 cents.

I adjusted for my O date (-14 days from O for LMP) and all my u/s have been dead on to the day for my adjusted date, so it isn't lying it's instead giving an accurate date!

You can either fudge it or you can just TELL them you KNOW when you O'd and let it be at that... I, personally, O a week late, too, so I just told my doctor (who knows bout my infertility stuff and all anyway...) and she said okay! Also, are you going to be getting an ultrasound? If you are, then they will be able to see that you are more right than the silly "28 day cycle" due dates... This is what helped me "seal the deal" so to speak on me having the correct due date! LOL

I'm butting in from August. Why not just tell them your ovulation date? That is what I do with my midwives because I usually ovulate around day 18, and they base my due date off that. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable with a caregiver who I had to lie to in order to have a more accurate due date or worry about inductions.

I'm doing the same thing. Because i went off the pill my cycle was incredibly long and would have me due almost 3 weeks before. For me its just easier that way.

Well, I brought my exact chart showing my ovulation date (from the TCOYF/Ovusoft software) and my doc still said "we have to calculate based off the LMP although obviously it may not be accurate for you". Ya think??? : So, they gave me an EDD of 12/28 when I know I'm not due until at least 12/31 or 1/1. I don't know if I'm going to deliever with the doc or not, but at least I know he doesn't push induction so I'm not to worried about my dates being a little off.

Why oh why when they have a woman who obviously knows her cycles must they stick "by the book" to things that aren't as accurate??? :

This is EXACTLY what I'm afraid would happen if I just told them my ovulation date and showed them my chart. So I did it. And I don't even feel bad about it. Like someone said, it's just helping them be as accurate as I am. So when I called the OB office and scheduled my first appointment, nurse asked "When was the first day of your last period?" I replied, "I'm going to say April 13th." I didn't really say that it WAS April 13th. So the due date they came up with was January 19...one day LATER than the due date I had calculated. That's what I'm talking about! Make that date as late as possible...give my baby as long as it wants to arrive.

This is your first insite into hoe your doc will "manage" your pregnancy and birth. Not listening to YOU and YOUR knowledge of YOUR body. I would run to a midwife as fast as I could.

I was havinng 6 week cycles when I conceived and I knew I ovulated late in the game. It was my first fertile montht since Dd and we were just gonna see what happened. Then I saw fertile mucous and got kinda chicken,w ondering if I was rerady or not, but our fate was sealed (Thank goodness) and we were pg. I told my LMP because I was totally sure when conecption was (but I had a good idea and was right) for a few reasons. I opted to have a sono at 6 weeks to get accurate dates. I'm seeing a group of midwives and they keep saying I'm a week and a half further than I am because of my LMP. I haven't gotten them a copy of thte sono yet. WHen I do they'll go by that. If you're not planning to do an early sono, I'd recommend giving them the date thtat lines up at the end. You could say something like, according to my calendar, it should have been on April 13th or something to that affect so it's not a lie. YOu gotta protect your babe.

Dropping in from July. I would find a HCP who trusted your dates and calculations. For the first time in my 3 years of charting I O'd on CD 14 the cycle I conceived, so it wasn't a big issue for me. I did bring in my chart for my M/W to see and she was so excited to have a woman who charted. However, if I had gotten a rxn that charts aren't accurate or any other response, I would have looked elsewhere for care during this PG. I think it is best to have an open relationship with any doc or m/w you see. Good luck with your decision.

Jumping in from November...

I ovulated around day 23, and have 35 day cycles. I went into the doctor's office, told them my LMP, the nurse wrote down 11/14 as a *temporary* EDD, then the doctor came in and I explained that I ovulate around day 23. He wrote that down in my chart and said to schedule the 8 week u/s for another week after the 8 week LMP date that it was originally going to be scheduled for. He wanted me to be somewhat close to 8 weeks when we had the u/s. Then after the u/s, which dated me at somewhere between 7w2d-7w4d, and they took the average and said 7w3d (I was 7w1d... close enough), he changed my official due date to 11/21 in my chart. I still say I'm due 11/23 though (Thanksgiving because it's easier to tell people my due date that way. And my date or the u/s could be right, but it really doesn't matter. They're only 2 days apart! I'll be happy if I make it into October (last pregnancy had PPROM at 29 weeks).

Anyway, I think this could definitely be a good test of whether your doctor is going to listen to you and what you believe, or ignore you and follow his own way. If it's the latter, it's time to find a new doctor! So I don't think lying is going to help you that much.

And if the doctor is going to do a dating u/s (and you're going to go along with it), I wouldn't worry what your LMP is... The u/s is pretty close to accurate early on, like 8-10 weeks timeframe. Later on, like in the third trimester, it's nowhere near as accurate though!

Yup, I am fudging.
My O was on day 33 of my cycle! It took forever!
So, knowing I ovulated on April 22nd, I am saying that the date of my last period is 14 days before (April 8th).
P.S. Also using a trusting provider once I've interviewed and found one : )

I O'd 4 days late (CD18) and it was after my first PPAF. I have a VERY good relationship with my nurse/family practitioner, so I just wrote everything down... when by their wheel it would say I O'd, when I actually did, and when I believed I was due.

I figured that I would be due the 10th (according to LMP) but the 14th would be correct. For some reason, her wheel showed the 12th. I told my doctor that I didn't care what date they put down as long as she didn't start worrying about me going "too long" until the 28th. She just laughed and said that was absolutely fine. She was my doc with my son, and I went 9 days over with him and induction was never brought up. I just felt that the honest way was the best way with us, and I knew I could trust her to talk through it. However, if I was with a new doc or someone I didn't feel I could trust, I'd lie... then look for a new doctor =)

Hmmm...well, I think you have to do what you think is right for you. I personally added two days to mine because I wanted an extra couple of days breathing room. The worst thing about my whole pregnancy was that last week when everyone and their freaking dog called me to see if I was in labor. I just felt that it would be less stressful for us if that happened a little later this go 'round.

Who am I lying to? Myself? My DH knows I did it and as far as I'm concerned, we're the only ones who really need to know about it.
