Klean Kanteen has come out with a 12 ounce hourglass-shaped stainless steel sippy cup with a natural rubber sipper top...it sounds a little like it looks like a nuby. It will be available mid-late June. I am so excited. I thought they would never come out with one. A prototype has already been seen and it has already been announced on several websites as "coming in june". Yey! Good riddance plastic crudola!

Yay!

I can't wait!

Sweeeeeeeeeeet!

That's great!!! If only it was a little smaller though- 12oz can be kind of heavy for a small child to tote around. I wonder if they're planning to make a 7oz size once the 12oz size is established.

Why does all the cool stuff come out right when we're ending that phase? Still interested in it, though!

The sippy cups we use are 11 oz so I dont see 12 oz size as a problem for little ones.

Will be curiuos to see one and see the price of them.

I can't believe it! I just ordered $65 bucks worth of other stuff on Niki's coops.

Do you have a linky to the new product? I could not find it on the website.

I think probably not since it took them this long to come out with a sippy. Plus, they just came out with the 18oz. not to long ago. We use a .3L (10 ounce) Sigg right now so I am hoping it won't be too huge for my 12 month old. I wonder why they didn't make it 8-10 ounces instead. That would have been nice. Ahhh well, beggers can't be chosers I guess.

No link. It isn't listed on their page yet, but it was in the up and coming in "The Green Guide" and also on other sites as "coming in June". Someone also ran into the owner at some function and he had the prototype with him. So she actually got to see it. Klean Kanteen is in the process of revamping their whole website and some stuff that is available is still not on there, like the go ware.

That totally rips! I can't tell you how much money I spent in a Sigg coop last month. : I wish I had known. I am kicking myself now.

stainless steel sippy cup coming soon!

Yep, a stainless steel sippy cup with non-toxic sipper top will be ready soon! The sippy prototype mentioned below from Cutie Patootie is a Realware product. We (Realware) showed our prototype sippy at the Whole Children Whole Planet Expo on Earth Day in LA to an awesome audience of families. We sold Klean Kanteen water bottles at the event, so people may have thought the sippy cup prototype was a Klean Kanteen product--sorry for the confusion.

Little hands will be able to handle the 10oz. hourglass shaped cup and bigger hands can get inside to clean it. If you'd like to get an announcement email list or have questions/comments, feel free to email us at info@forrealware.com

We're super excited about providing a stainless alternative to plastic sippies! I get lots of questions about the hazards of plastics and regularly refer folks to these great sites: www.environmentcalifornia.org (look for environmental health reports- "the right start: growing up toxic"), www.ourstolenfuture.org and www.mindfully.org

Thanks for the info kathymac. One of the main concerns I had about stainless steel in the past is that it can leach nickel when used with acidic foods (i.e. apple juice which kids sometimes get). Can you tell me if this was a concern in your design and whether or not you addressed this issue in your design? Thanks!

I think we may be talking about two different cups. There are several websites that are announcing the new Klean Kanteen sippy...12oz coming in June.

Does Cutie Patootie or Realware have a website?

I'm not a business owner and I don't have a website...I am just an innocent bystander looking for a stainless steel sippy cup.

A Google search and looking at the kathymac's email address seems to imply that this is the web site for Realware http://www.forrealware.com/

Looks like kathymac isn't returning to this thread so I'll likely email them to get an answer to my concern of stainless steel leaching with acidic foods.
