medical reasons not to vax

Does anyone know the contraindications for vaxing? My peds will throw my kids out with a religious exemption so I'd like to know if I can get a medical one. My baby is allergic to nuts, eggs, and something in the antibiotics I took. She has a heart murmur. My son had seizures after birth w/i hours of the Hep B vac and reactions after that just got worse. I had the hep B series and by the third dose I had this wierd episode where I didn't see right, I couldn't move my body and I could hear the voices around me,but couldn't understand anything. super scary! (I worked at a nursing home) I woke up in a hospital bed. Turns out they thought I had taken drugs because they said I just sat there and stared for an hour with tears running down my face. Then I passed out for 12 Hours! They put me in a patient bed to "sleep it off". They didn't even call an ambulance! I could have died and they're the ones who gave me the shot just minutes before. Ohh it still makes me so mad. My little boy was at daycare and cps was called to take him when I didn't show up.... (before I married dh) Any way my doc chalked it up to having a siezure or migraine (Idiot) I Will Never Vax This Baby---Never I want a medical exemption, but will not vax her even if I can't get it. I was unknowledgable with ds and myself, but now I know and I will protect this one.

Your best bet would be to find a new Ped. Any doctor who wants to give vaccines despite severe reaction is playing russian roulette with your child's life. DO NOT LET HIM.

Getting a medical exemption is VERY difficult, most of the time.
My husband got one for college. The last vaccine my husband had he stopped breathing. Thankfully he was in a hospital when he got the vaccine. And they were able to ressucutate quickly. The time before that, he spiked a 105 fever, and broke out in hives 3 inches wide.
Reactions get worse with every vaccine.

We have a really awesome family doctor, who acknowledged the severity of the reaction, and wrote the medical exemption. He said he has done them in the past as well.
The doctor who treated him at the hospital said " Its just a fluke, just take Benadryl before your next vaccine" :

find a different ped. seriously.

if they dont respect your decisions as a parent when it comes to vax, what else ar eyou not going to see eye-to-eye on? They don't have to agree with you completely when it comes to not vaxing, but they should be respectful that YOU are the parent. Besides, the medical exemption usually only works if you know which vax causes a problem. I "could* get a medical exemption for both of my kids since they have bnoith had "mild" reactions, but I am not willing to subject them to more vaxes just to figure out which one it is that they didnt do well with. Not worth the risk imo.

Your pediatrician admits that they practice discrimination based on religion, AFTER they've agreed to take a patient on?

Even if vax wasn't an issue, I'd find a new doctor immediately. If they won't respect you, why would you pay for their services? Would you take your car in for an oil change to a store that advertises they discriminate against women and fill their accounts with your money? Doctors are no different in my opinion.

The curious part of my brain wonders...are there no discrimination laws associated with doctors, even if they are buried in the contracts they have with insurance companies or something?

Find a new dr NOW. I would never use a medical exemption. Especially with a Dr. He will just overrule it. Say it's fine. And vax away.

It is very highly unlikely for your pediatrician to agree that vaccines will endanger the life of your children based on what you said.

I just got back from dd2s 2 month checkup. The nurse said they have several patients that delay and didn't give me a hard time. I told her that if I gave any vaxs I would be delaying for a while, but honestly I don't see the reason for any of the vaxes I've looked at and chicken pox is just stupid to vax for. The doctor asked how long I was delaying and I said we could discuss it at the 6 mth checkup. He was a new Dr. and so I didn't go into it with him. The nurse said when a child has a problem (ADD/ADHD, autism, learning difficuties, etc) she always wonders if it was the vaccine. This visit makes me think I have some room in my decisions. I have state insurance tenncare medicaid on the children and only certain peds see medicaid patients so I don't get much of a choice about doctors.

I wonder how I'd find out?

I know they can refuse to take a patient for any reason, but that does raise the question of "abandonment" after they've accepted that patient. As a nurse if I leave my patient (go home) before my replacement gets there and accepts the patients. (signs my shift detail)I can have my license taken away for "abandonment". Does that apply to docs? Would they have to find a replacement for me? These are some good questions. Anybody have the answers?
