I told my dh about it last night and he told me that at his work (he is a restaurant manager of a national chain) they have already sent out talking points for their customers who come in concerned about eating chicken and turkey :
Ugh I am sure this movie is going to create panic and fear. This is just disgusting!!

Here is an article by Sherri Tenpenny on the show:

http://www.newswithviews.com/Tenpenny/sherri7.htm

Quote:
The fear-mongering impact is being anticipated across the country. In fact, The Pittsburgh Tribune Review reported that there will be fifteen phone lines in the studios at WTAE-TV staffed by public health officials, infectious disease experts, mental health professionals and first responders armed with the “latest, most accurate information about the bird flu threat.” People who are especially upset by the movie or concerned about the potential bird flu pandemic will be referred to CONTACT Pittsburgh, the region's 24-hour crisis and suicide hot line.

Suicide hotline? This is fiction!
DH wants to watch it for a "laugh".

I highly doubt we'll watch it...the fearmongering will just make me furious.

If anyone watches it, please keep track of the commercials if ya know what I mean.

I, too, am VERY curious about the commercials. But not curious enough to waste my time watching the garbage.

I would watch it JUST so that I could have proper retorts at the ready from friends and family who will watch it and freak out. AND to catch all the commercials Alas, there is no TV at my house.

Another person with no TV. But I am interested, so, I hope people will fill us in on the details after they watch it.

Ugggh - did you see the previews for this movie. "One step ahead of the headlines"....sick, sick, sick. Dh and I were laughing about this last night, looks like the plague is oming to the US. Needless to say I won't be tuning in.

There is a very good article about this movie on slate.com today. The part of the article I found most interesting:

Quote:
Now back to diarrheal disease, which causes far more fatalities than bird flu is ever likely to and whose victims are mostly children. About a decade ago, noble researchers at the children's hospitals of Cincinnati and Philadelphia discovered two rotavirus vaccines; by last year the vaccines had been perfected for general use by Merck and GlaxoSmithKline. American and European children will soon begin receiving these vaccines routinely, though their risk of rotavirus is small. In the developing world, however, where the risk is great—85 percent of diarrheal deaths occur in poor nations—the $200-per-course cost of the vaccine is prohibitive. If the wealthy nations of the West put their shoulders to this wheel, surely mass manufacturing could bring the cost of rotavirus vaccine way down, saving tens of millions of developing world lives. Instead we're spending billions of dollars to barricade ourselves against mutant chickens. Disaster movie, anyone?

Oh, JOY!

I have no television. How wonderful. I'm so smug. I get to not be manipulated. I don't have to see painful pharmaceutical advertising.

Hee, hee.

I have no TV also. I hope someone can post here and let us know how it goes. Please?

I was just coming here to post this!

I plan on watching it so I can laugh and roll my eyes. I will try to remember to keep track of the commercials!

I just finished watching it.
It was so poorly produced, I was just sort of laughing through the whole thing.
DH kept saying "SARSy pox!!! Woooo!!!" periodically.

It ended with the virus mutating into a 100% lethal form that assumedly killed every single person on the planet.

None of the ads stuck out, other than one for the Hanso Foundation, which wiki says is just a spoof site for Lost fans.
That's one creepy website, though.

Thats weird because I turned to the channel about 10 minutes before it was over. I wanted to see how lame it was and the first thing I see is a very long commerical for some bladder control drug.
