OWWWWWWWWWW. Daph keeps chompin down on my nipple. She thinks she is funny too cause she laughs when I say "oww!" Her teeth on top havent popped through yet but i can feel sharpness so I know they are right there. Jevin had teeth by this age and I remember he went through a month of knawing too and I was so scared to nurse him. Let's hope her teethers hold off a little longer!

Hmm dunno if this will help you at all, but I seem to remember that the Dr. Sears book said to pull the baby's head toward you if they bite. That way they have to open their little jaws wider in order to have room to breathe through their noses (otherwise their nostrils get squished agains the breast). Let me know if that works...DS isn't biting yet but he's sure teething!

Yeah, Drew has been doing the chomp-and-pull thing too. It hurts sooooo bad. I say, "no no no" and practically smother him with my boob until he lets go. Seems to be working.

Luka too. He thinks it's hilarious when I say "OUCH! No biting!"

I unlatch him. They can't bite if they're actually nursing, so that means "done" in my book. Hopefully it's a short phase, as teeth are on our horizon, too (and I think teething might be causing the "biting")

My baby girl is 7 months and still has no has no teeth luckily!
But she does have a wonderful habit of trying to look at things over her shoulder while still attached :

They all go through a phase of thinking that anything is more amusing than being fed........until you unlatch them!!!! (cruel but it works)

Thank you for this thread... Moira's just in the past day or two started chomping on me too. I think she is teething, but they're not in yet.

M is a card-carrying member of the Chomper Squad too. No teeth yet, and he doesn't do it on purpose--there's no coy glance along with the bite--so I usually take him off gently and tell him it hurts mama when he bites. It's more of a discomfort than true pain, but unfortunately it's really damaging my nipples and I'm afraid I might have thrush again (had it from 3 weeks till 3.5 mos...and man oh man does it suck!) because of the trauma. My LC says M slips off the nipple then starts biting because his jaw hurts. She said to be super vigilant about re-latching him when he does this.

ouch! Yeah, with my first son too, I think it's a teething thing.....it only lasted a month or so and when he had a full mouth of teeth, he never bit me.
