I *HAD* to vaccinate - what next?

I'm in a sticky situation where my ex insisted that we immunize the kids... so the first round of shots started on Friday. It's a long story, but suffice to say I was not in a place to totally refuse. We're "selevtivly" doing all the vaxs I can get from non-fetal sources...

What I want to know is, are there any things I can do to "minimize" the dangers of immunization? Herbs... vitamins... what have you?

In what state are you?

In this situation, you should know your state minimum immunization requirements. State requirements vary from the CDC recommendations and you may be able to avoid unnecessary doses and vaccines.

After you look into that, check out a classical homeopath. There are remedies that can support your child(ren) before/during vaccination. I would also push to have them spread out as far as possible.

I'm sorry you are in this situation, but you are asking good questions and doing your best to make sure you kids have the best chance of not reacting.

I'm in south east TN, and due to the situation, I'll have to follow the "normal schedule" of immunizations.

I have yet to find a homeopath in my area - or even a whole-health-friendly doctor... maybe I'm not looking in the right way...

Have you formally requested to have your child vaccinated according to state requirements? If not, you should. You can give DT instead of DTaP for instance.

School Attendance (K-12)

DTP/DtaP/DT
4 or more doses, one of which must be given on or after the fourth birthday. If starting series at age seven or older, only three doses are required.

Polio (OPV/IPV)
4 doses of OPV or IPV. If the 3rd dose was given on or after the fourth birthday, the 4th dose is not required. However, if a combination of IPV/OPV (2IPV/2OPV) is used, all 4 doses are needed regardless of age.

MMR
2 doses, given on or after the first birthday required, for entrance into grades K, 4, 8 and 12. The second dose should be administered at least 30 days following the first dose. Beginning with the start of the 2001 school year, all students K-12 must have two doses of MMR.

Hepatitis B
3 doses of Hepatitis B vaccine are required for entry into Kindergarten and 2 or 3 doses (depending on the type of vaccine given) for entry into 7th grade.

Varicella
1 dose given on or after the first birthday for entrance into kindergarten; a parent or physician diagnosed history of disease is acceptable in lieu of vaccine for purposes of the requirement.

Well what vaccines Tennessee requires is a whole lot less than the CDC reccomendations. The TN required immunization list is here ...http://www2.state.tn.us/health/CEDS/required.htm

Newton Labs has a homeopathic Vaccination Relief for children, it helps minimize reactions. They also have a heavy metal detox.

I would also build up the immune system with Gaia's Composition essence for children also a good book to pick up is Rosemary Gladstar's Herbal Remedies for Children. She also has a line of herbs called "Herbs for Kids" that has some real good immune building formuals. I use them for my boys all the time.

Would it be possible to insist that titers are drawn for each disease prior to any vaccinations for it?

That is a FANTASTIC idea!

Why did I not think of that....
