Can anyone a laundry soap/detergent that actually gets things CLEAN?

Hey moms,
I am currently using Seventh Generation laundry soap. and it really isn't doing the job. I have come to expect my family's clothes to still be stained after I wash them. Can anyone reccomend a laundry soap that will get stains out?
Thanks!

I've had a lot of luck with Bi-O-Kleen. Whole Foods also sells a stain stick thingy that I use when there's an especially scary looking stain.

I don't rely on detergents to get stains out. If it's something fresh, rinse it out in cold water so it doesn't set. If it's an already "processed" stain, try sunning it out.

oxi-clean does wonders for blood, tomato, and berry stains (for bad stains I soak for 1-2 days). I also don't put any stained clothes in the dryer (I usually do 5 minutes in the dryer to fluff before hanging them out)

Yes, stains need treatment such as cool rinse and a bit of soap or sun to bleech, but we have been VERY happy with BiOKleen. And they have a product called BacOut, which I spray directly onto mama cloth for preventing stains. Works great!

I buy mine at www.kokogm.com because they offer bulk and have good prices and good shipping for weight.

Another vote for Bi-O-Kleen. If I am worried about a particular pre-treated stain, I'll check after a wash, too. I won't put a stained garment in the dryer.

I've used 7th Generation before with acceptable results (as I remember), too.

Treating stains right away is pretty key. What I like most about BiOKleen is that my daughter's soft cotton clothes are just as soft after laundering (after MANY launderings!) as they were new. She has some super-soft organic cotton Hanna Andersson clothes, and I found that washing them in other detergents took away the soft feeling right away, but not so with Bi-O-Kleen. And it cleans well, too.

7th generation baby works *wonderfully* - way better than their other one. not sure why. it gets that ammonia smell out of diapers great tho and doesn't seem to leave residue like my all free and clear did.

ecover stain remover works really well too

Check out Allen's Naturally. I use the concentrated powder, and it works wonders!!!

I have been using Ecover liquid detergent successfully; but I am fanatical about soaking things and trying to treat stains. If I don't do that things are clean, but not stain free

I second Charlie's Soap. I've been using it about 2 months now and I like it a lot. I also got the all-purpose cleaner to treat stains with and it works great. On the powder you only use 1 tablespoon, economical and ecological.
