Maybe I should put this on yahoo too, but nak & i am here now:

instructions for wearing your podeagi are here:
http://www.peppermint.com/podegiinstructions.htm

i personally have only done the traditional back carry, after first putting dd on my back, i pull the podaegi over me and start at step 3

here is a sideways sequence of me getting dd on my back, you don't have to do it this way though, you can use a couch:

mariposita, do you have any other suggestions?

im glad you posted this here. so, the label part (mine has little chicks on it) shoudl be on the back folded down? and his head is supposed to be all the way out? since he's not that great at holding his head 100% im not sure it will work for a few more weeks.
but love the material! post more if you can!
thanks

Post pictures of your new podeagis!

Will LOVED being in the podeagi, and I'm a big fan of shoulders-free. He rode around in it for about 2 hours this afternoon, all the time with a big smile on his face, before we had to hop in the car for an errand.

I'll have DH take a pic tomorrow and post it. Maybe DS1 could try in the afternoon. I have actually gotten usable pix he's taken for me! Anyway, I hope to have one of us up by evening.

Thanks again, Linda! I'm so happy with it!

wow, that's just crazy looking at the pictures of carter and i in that link (traditional back carry instructions). reed looks so much like his brother! i think carter was about 6mos in those pictures. i'll have to take a picture of reed in that same podaegi to compare.

I didn't realize that was you in the pix! Wow, we have a celebrity in our midst.

ETA:

Here's a coupla mirror pix I took with Will in the podaegi. Not going to win any photog awards, but at least you can see it:

Pic 1

Pic 2

I should say that I'm still on the learning curve of tying it on. I did a much better job yesterday. The Podaegi wrapped around me smoothly, the pocket was actually in the front, and Will didn't slide down. Not so today. As I've learned with all things BW-wise, practice will make a huge difference as we keep using it.

Thanks for the pics, Jen! Your baby is so little and cute. How much does he weigh now?
Thanks.

He's 15 lbs and about 2 ounces, 27", so long and skinny, just like my other 2 were.

thansks again for this thread!

i got E up on my back and in the pod. earlier but went downstairs in front of the mirror (also cleaned the kitchen while i was there as i didnt do it all day due to AF problems).
well, my batteries in my camera needed charging, so i had to come back upstairs and put in new batteries and recharge the other ones.
so...im too lazy to get him back on my back and go downstairs again! ill try to take pix again.

i love this thing though..its so cool!

a few questions:
is it normal for the thing to not be so tight?
he seems so low. should his head be between my shoulder blades or where?
are his legs ok straight down? i cant get him to part them very much!

thanks
rach

Wow!!!!! I just got caught up on this thread.

Jen, I LOVE your pictures! I can't believe that is the same podaegi I sent out just a few days ago and you are wearing it! I need to try one of my extras, it looks so much nicer than the one I have been using.

Rach, Andrea is the real expert on wearing here, maybe she will have some suggestions, but here are some of my observations about myself. So far, I think that a little tighter is better, but it took me awhile to get it right. I think that each time I wear it, it works a little better for me. Sometimes I think Kali is better up high, and sometimes I think she is better lower. When she is lower she seems to ride on my hips. As far as legs spreading, I'm not sure. The mybeibei site has instructions and pictures that show the baby's legs just straight down the back. I tend to think that spread legs are better - and when she's lower on my back a little bit, her legs do tend to spread out more. But whatever works, right?!

This is so much vicarious fun!

OH YES! Panthira, yours IS coming.

Yay, I can't wait, though I am a little nervous about wearing Greyson in it. I don't know why.

Aww Jen, your little guy is so cute in the podaegi, and you look great too, mama!

Judybean - if you want one, it's not too late. PM me...

Shana, I know how you feel...I was feeling that way too at first. Have you worn him on your back in any other carrier? If so, just think about how he feels in that carrier - he shouldn't feel much different in this one. In other words, maybe that will make you feel more confident about carrying him in this one. For example, I carried DS in the Ergo a lot when he was a bit older than DD is right now. So I was used to the way that THAT felt. So then I felt confident carrying DD on my back in the Ergo even though she was younger than he was when I started (if that makes sense). Then, when I got my Podaegi, I knew how she felt back there, and I used that as a starting point. If this is your first back carry, I would maybe practice getting him on your back without the carrier. Do it over a bed or something though! When I got a copy of hte Tummy2Tummy.com DVD - that's when I really started feelign confident about all this. I think that some of those videos are on the wearyourbaby.com site too.

Andrea - can't wait to hear your suggestions too!

yes, the label part should be folded down(at least if it looks similar to my korean-made podaegi, it should. it provides more support to the baby's upper body that way.

his head should be most of the way out. sometimes they can settle in lower, but start it all the way out with arms all the way inside. older babies can have their arms out. i know women in korea who use it with newborns so his head support *should* be okay, but you know your baby best. reed has always had good head support, so it's not been an issue for us.

isn't it so cute how much they love it? i have tried about a dozen carriers and both of my boys liked the podaegi the best!

hardly a celebrity (ha!), but i do love me a podaegi! you couldn't buy one online or anywhere in the united states when i first started my podaegi business. now they're everywhere!

jen, i just wanted to say, will should be up a little higher on your back. maybe this picture was taken after he had been in it a while and he had settled down, but his head should at least start out being near your neck/shoulders. they definitely settle lower through time, but it's so much more comfy the higher they are. just keep working on it, it does get easier!

the only way i can describe the fit for how it starts out is snug, but not tight. it'll feell quite snug, even a little tight to begin, but not so tight it hurts. you'll know the difference if you get it on too tight. it doesn't feel good or right at all. if it's too tight and hurts, take it off and try again if your little guy can stand being messed with again. it'll ease up as ou wear it and the baby's body pulls out the fabric a bit.

see my post about where the baby's head should be.

regarding legs, it should be fine to have them straight down, but be careful since it's not the #1 safest position (my little dislaimer). that said, my korean mil has been tying it around his lower back instead of under his bum/around his legs and he's in there really secure.

I think I totally missed out on this...I am wanting a Podeagi now! Is it too late for me to get in on the action?
I got mine today. I gotta say, my DH and I started laughing hysterically when we saw "Wona Bang" embroidery placed between cute teddy bears.

We're so juvenile!

Thanks for sending it! I'll try it out this weekend sometime if I can figure out how to wear my guy in it.
