Lets talk language!!!

I want my baby girl to know other languages!!

I will be taking spanish myself in the fall so that I can stimulate and encourage her. I am also looking for fun to watch videos,books, toys etc. etc. in other languages.

Any comments, suggestions? Stories?

Those are both great sites.
I tries to find more info on the muzzy tapes but the site couldn't be found. I did order the free catolog.

Well, I teach English as a second language. While tapes, videos, etc are good as a base, all things considered, nothing beats "going there, living there" for a year or so.

Nothing.

I, too, wanted my son to speak two/more languages. We live in California, so the Spanish language was a natural. I began speaking it to him at home from age one. Not all the time, because I didn't know it THAT well, but I would speak whatever I knew, ("Vamos, mijito" "Quieres fresas?", etc). I asked language questions of every native speaker I saw. Result? If you ask my son, now in grade school, if he speaks Spanish, he says, "No, I take French in school" but if you ask him questions in Spanish, he can answer them. In contrast, he has had two years of French in school and can't tell me the French word for "bird".
My point is, just speak the language to your little one, as much as you can. Your little one is lucky to have an understanding mommy who gets the many languages/one world thing.

I have heard wonders about "the bilingual baby" video. You can do a search in Amazon (even if you don't end up buying there) for Spanish and other languages for videos and books. Our first language at home is Spanish and English on the street so DS is catching both pretty well.
