Emerson Christopher surprises the HECK out of us!

OK, so here I am in Lala land thinking that I'm going to be at least a few days late, maybe even will run into June, hoping not to but happy to go until the very end of May...

WELCOME EMERSON CHRISTOPHER!!
Born 5/9 (37 weeks 2 days) at 2:35 PM
6 lbs, 12 1/2 oz of pure LOVE!

Well, the little guy had other plans, it turns out! After 7 hours of labor, he was born into a whirlpool tub, perfect and beautiful! I am SO happy with my midwives, they were awesome and supportive and the whole process went amazingly well. I credit RRL tea for the speed of the labor, and the strength of my contractions (a mixed blessing, for sure!)

I have to admit I've been in a bit of shock because I was NOT AT ALL mentally prepared for him to come early, but I'm thrilled and totally in love with the little guy!

Not in your EDD, but I wanted to say congrats!! I saw this on the front page and just had to reply. Nothing like a little one being born early. And you picked a wonderful name!

Enjoy motherhood, mama. It's a beautiful thing! And have a happy Mother's Day!

Not in this group either but the name caught my attention. Emerson is my ds1's middle name. Love it! Great birth you had and glad all went well.

Thanks, Mamas! We are just so excited, tired, in love, etc.!

Cat, I wanted to tell you sooner that we were thinking about using the name Emerson, but DH and I decided not to confirm the name until after he was born and we promised not to tell a soul until then what names we were considering! Our parents were very curious but we stuck to our guns.

Breastfeeding is going pretty well, we are learning a lot and trying to work things out together. No formula is allowed in this household! We have also been EC-ing, even though I didn't think we'd start out that way (I thought it would be a lot of work) - he is so predictable that it is actually less work to EC (in combo with cloth dipes) than to just diaper! Starting from day 1 or 2, we have been catching most pees, and at least half of his poos - it's so exciting!
