Congratulations!

FYI-- if you see trouble with the head--
My 5th labor was sort of like that, sans the MW... I was unassisted so I had to do it all on my own, no one to play with my cervix or AROM... his head was SO funky shaped... but on top of how it *looked*, then he had a hard time nursing and didn't gain weight... turns out that Craniosacral therapy got his head to rights, helped him get the latch/suction he needed to gain weight and was just what he needed.

When our Pediatrician saw his head, he diagnosed that the "saggital suture" had closed/fused prematurely... and was either a cause or an effect of the bad position in labor/birth. The Pedi's treatment plan was to have the baby go into surgery, have his skull cut open and then wear a helmet for 6-9 months to reshape his head the 'right' way. I took baby to Craniosacral therapist who gently held baby's head in her hands for an hour, 8 sessions over the next 10 weeks at a cost of $600. The Pediatrician was so impressed he took a stack of her business cards and said he'd never refer another head-molded baby to surgery again.

Good to know if she doesn't wake up and nurse soon--although she's very alert, just not interested in nursing. She coughed up some goop last night and this morning--I'm guessing from her stomach cuz her lungs sounded clear, so maybe she just felt full.

I'm totally blown away by your having done a malpositioned baby unassisted! This was my first though and I was seriously getting too tired and scared to go without the internventions. Heck, I'd probably still be in labor!

She's sleeping in her Moby Wrap now. We'll try nursing again in a few minutes.

That is *so* kewl! Y'know, when DH wanted to name his daughter Elanor, I was a bit worried that it might be *too* old fashioned, but now I'm seeeing quite a few Eleanors. Not to many, but enough that I'm reassured she won't get too teased about a weird name.

Rest up! Right there with ya on the birth high, take it slow and easy okay? Getting up is okay, just don't stay up too long and spend lots of time resting/nursing on the couch.

Love the name! DD1 is Elana, a variant Eleanor and we call her Ellie. Ellie is quite popular now ya know!

Happy babymooning!
