When should I have DD's Labor Support come? (Xposted from June)

I figured I should X post this to see if I get any replies. I got 0 from my *official* DDC so, here goes...(Any advice would be much appreciated!)

Hey Mamas! I need some advice here...

We decided to have someone come help us around the house and w/ DD for when we have this DC. We're having DH's mom come. She'll be flying in from Michigan so I would like to give her specific dates so she can book the tickets ahead of time. She'll be staying w/ us for at least a week. It would be awesome to have her here to support DD while I'm in labor so DH can be by my side without having to worry and also to help out after the baby is here. But who knows when the baby will come. It's so hard to try and 'predict', kwim? By my LMP my due date is 6/10 and by the U/S my due date is 6/6. I would like to give her a date to come already but I don't want her to come, stay for a whole week and have to leave because baby didn't show, kwim? We were just gonna call her once I went into labor so she can come like, the next day or whatever but it would be really nice to have some extra support while I'm actually in labor. What do you mama's think? What would be the best dates to give her??

Gosh, I couldn't begin to guess. Since my first two came before their "due dates" I never dreamed I'd still be pregnant almost a week after my edd. If I had had to make plans like you are, I would have had everything in place for the week of May 7 since my edd was May 10.

Honestly, I wish I could help... but these babies are so darn unpredictable!

It is so hard to plan, isn't it . Can your MIL stay any longer than a week? Is her ticket extendable? I'll give you my personal experience with this, for perspective.

DS ~ due 10/18, my parents fly from NH to CA to arrive "after the birth" on 10/24. DS is finally born on 10/30 (12 days "late") and parents have to return home two days later. Ugh....

DD ~ due 3/26, MIL flies out on 3/24 and DD is born 3/28. MIL extended her ticket to stay with us a full 4 weeks and it was very helpful with our DS.

Baby (due this Thursday) ~ my parents are arriving from NH this evening for a 3 week visit. Hoping and praying the baby arrives in the next week or so!

Was your daughter, early, late or relatively on time? "Late" seems to run in my family, so I was pretty sure I'd be watching my due date come and go with both births. I never anticipated going 12 days past my due date with #1 though!

Thanks mama. I think it's a third baby thing though since all of my friends seemed to have unpredictable third babies (and my informal poll at Birth and Beyond showed the same thing).

Since this is your second, maybe he/she will cooperate for ya! :

My DD was due 7/3 and came on 7/7. 4 days late. I'm sure she can stay a little longer perhaps, I'll have to ask. She hasn't even booked her tickets yet.

I dunno. I had my MIL come and ended up just getting really stressed out by it... she didn't want to hang around here and took my kids to her house so I've been lonely and depressed all week... except that very first morning, when I took my oldest son out since we were alone. They are supposed to come back tomorrow but I'm so lonely and depressed without them that DH is telling his mom to bring them back today... but they are already down for nap there so I dunno if she will.... Now I wish all the family would just leave me alone and stop trying to "help" by taking my kids away.

Also, I've learned that U/S due dates aren't always on target. Well, most due dates aren't anyways but my due date w/ DD by my LMP was 7/4 (I was SOO praying that she wouldn't come on the 4th too! ) The I had an u/s and he moved my due date to 7/3. It's like, ummm what's ONE day really matter? Like it makes that much of a difference. But she ended up coming closer to my LMP due date. *sigh* Oh the madness..

U/S dates are always off for me because my kids have big heads ! The date is somehow done by averaging the size of various body parts and those giant noggins always have my due date as sooner rather than later. Do you know when you ovulated, by any chance?

I'm not really sure. I just know that my last period started on Sep. 3rd.
