Fever in Pregnancy

I'm trying to keep it at bay with lots of vitamin C, but I suspect I am coming down with what DH has- fever, cough, etc. I'm a little concerned about running a fever, as I have read that in the first trimester a fever can cause birth defects.

What do you think is the safest choice for fever reduction? From what I have read, I should take acetaminophen. I guess I am just nervous about taking anything.

Sit in a cool bath if you can.

just manage your fever with tepid baths if you dont want to take anything.

Tylenol is safe during pregnancy. Cool baths are good idea. Keep you house cool too and do not use heavy blanket during the night.

First, don't stress over lower fevers. I wouldn't be concerned with anything 102 or under. Higher than that can be dangerous in 1st Trimester.

I had a raging fever last month and it was horrible. It got up to 103 and I was worried. I managed it by drinking lots of ice water and when it got too high, a long, tepid bath. I don't think I did any tylenol, but I did take the homeopathic remedy Belladonna, which is extremely effective on fevers and inflammation.

Keep hydrated and take care of yourself.

Thanks so much for the advice and warm wishes. I got lucky and didn't come down with it after all (yet). Last night, I had a scratchy throat (DH's first symptom) and was feeling sort of blah, so I was so sure I'd be getting sick.

Nice to know that a low fever might not be much of a problem.
