Exercising Mammas (Week of 5/14-5/20)

Hello Ladies,

I wanted to check in to see how we are doing on meeting our exercise goals for the week.

My goal is to do light cardio 3x a week and light weight lifting 2x a week.

Last week I did achieve my goal, but I have been suffering from really bad nausea this week and need to get motivated. My doctor cautioned me to keep my heartrate below 140 which seems really mild to me, but, I am trying to do longer cardio at a lower intensity.

I went speedwalking yesterday and lifted weights and felt nauseus the whole time, but I felt nauseus all day anyway so I can't really blame the exercise.

How are you doing?

Ugh. I haven't been doing well with it. My problem is that I have been an avid gym-goer for over 3 years, and I don't have a gym right now (I'm moving in a week, so I cancelled my membership at the end of April). On the one hand, I do walk a lot still. But I'm NOT getting the exercise high that I am accustomed to, which is a really bummer. I'm not a runner, and walking just isn't enough (right now- I'm sure I will change my tune once I'm huge!)
I don't have the equipment to exercise at home (mats, weights) so I am sort of in limbo till we get moved and settled... at which point it will have been well over a month since I have "worked out"-- and everyone says not to start an exercise routine once you are pregnant.

Wow, I'm a complainer. I will work it out. For now: walk, walk, walk.

Well, my exercise has been totally caput! I had been doing well about getting out for a walk with dd in the afternoon, but it's been raining (hard, down-pour, drenching rain) for almost a week now!!! We did go to a festival on Saturday and I walked around for about 3 hours, but that is about it for the week!! This next week is probably not going to be great either as we are moving and I'm spending a lot of time packing and cleaning, etc. I'm hoping once we get moved and settled then I will be able to get back into some sort of routine!

I try to take the girls for a walk to the park or into town everyday. We've been lucky enough to have the weather cooperate. I just wish that I would feel better BEFORE noon, so I don't feel like they/I are bored all morning. I've tried to go out with them in the morning to see if the distraction helps with the nausea, but it just makes me feel worse.

My asthma is always made worse by pregnancy, and I've got allergy stuff going on right now, too, so walking is what we're doing in terms of exercise.

I've been doing good with my walking. I go every night but yoga. Forget about it. I'm just to tired.

I've started biking to and from work now that it's nice outside. It's ~1.5 miles, and mostly uphill on the way there (so a nice easy downhill at the end of the day). Having not biked since November it's definitely a workout right now. It feels good to be doing something active, though.

I'm biking to school now - I hope to be able to keep it up all summer. It's 5.5 miles one way but all flat, so not too bad. My butt hurts though I think I need to put a rack and panniers on my bike instead of wearing a messenger bag. Carrying the extra weight is hurting my behind!

I don't know if I qualify, but I started taking Taekwondo lessons last week. I'm a newbie, so mostly just cardio and forms. I don't plan on any sparring (yellow belts and above). I suppose I could spar without gear 'cause if you don't have gear you can't contact/no one can contact you. More like shadow sparring.

I also want to start yoga or belly dancing, especially in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters.

having trouble getting motivated to exercise when i am so tired all the time! However, went for a good 8 km walk with a friend which was nice...otherwise, not doing much except gardening and walking

is anyone else having bain in their lower back? - feels sort of like what i imagine sciatica to be like, but I've never had it, so I don't know...seems very early to be having a sore back at only 8 weeks...

Just started walking this morning, I'm pitifully out of shape.

With ds, I was training for a 1/2 marathon at 8 weeks, and ran it in under 2 hours at 10 weeks. It helped with the nausea soooo much.

Hey can I join this bandwagon? I'm finally feeling good enough to actually be able to exercise!

I am going to try and wog (walk/jog) every other day with walking on in between days. I wogged today and it was awesome!! I feel so good. The morning sickness actually abates for a little while. ahhhh.

OK so I rode my bike to class Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday - and by Thursday I'd lost my voice! I wonder if it's from breathing the dry air through my mouth... but it hasn't come back! I quit riding yesterday and today but would like to get back on the bike tomorrow... but I don't want to make a problem worse.

Weird! I have gotten a cough from exercise before but not laryngitis.

Yeah, me neither! Is there anything else going around? Maybe you have a little bit of allergies...my allergies are always 10 times worse while pg, hardly noticeable otherwise.
